Well, I’m sure those email addresses are more pwned than any of the real ones.

Could be but who knows if it is accurate or not…

It’s accurate. The site aggregates data from known breaches which are available on the dark web. Basically, if your email is in any of the databases, it will show up as a match.

That doesn’t mean if your email DOESN’T show up, you’re automatically fine. I’m sure there are plenty of breaches that aren’t public or available on the dark web. But if it shows up, it will show you the source, and that’s accurate.

Might be off topic now, but if legit what do they do with your email address? Do we know there privacy policy? Who is this company? Where are they located?

One nice thing, if you consider it nice, once the Wyze data breach shows up on the dark web, they will get it so it will be included on their site, then you know for a fact that the wyze data breach is available on the dark web.

Created by this guy. I guess you can decide whether he seems trustworthy or not.

Here’s the privacy policy.

I trust it, but you’re right to be suspicious. Technically, any time you enter your info anywhere, you don’t know exactly where it’s going.

No idea, it’s above my pay grade…lol…

@nerdland, you and the rest of the Maven Mod folk are doing yeoman’s work here. You are all certainly better Maven Mod’s than I’d ever be. Thanks!

Although not a global barometer, my Wyze specific email (read: created specifically for Wyze and only used for that purpose) has yet to get hit with any anomalies…so got that going for me…which is nice…

A colleague in the InfoSec community knows that guy personally, so at least I know he’s a real person . I was suspicious of that site when I first heard about it, but it’s a legit site just trying to provide some awareness to consumers.

One of the interesting things you can also find is whether a password has shown up in a breach, so you can check your old passwords to see if they’re really secure any more:

Many companies, websites, and software reference that list and block you from using a password that has been pwned since they’re now vulnerable to a dictionary attack,

Cool. Yeah, seems trustworthy to me. But I guess the worst-case scenario is that one more database would have my email. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I think maybe some people are scared by the hacker-y sounding name of the site.

The password “password” has been pwned 3,730,471 times.

I have used that site on and off for awhile now. Never found any of my passwords there but ALL my email addresses up to 2 years ago were there. I have some new addresses now that so far have not shown up.

But I still use my old ones for sites like this.

Bravo to @UserCustomerGwen for being awesome. You’ve got a tough job right now.

Thank you very much!

It certainly isn’t easy but I would much rather be here helping everyone than doing something else during this. :slightly_smiling_face:

My wife is a massage therapist are you telling me you wouldn’t rather be getting a massage? Be honest. Lol

@paindonthurt, your comment is off topic. Please follow the rules you so eloquently expect the rest of us to follow.

LOL. Trying to follow @JoshuaPack lead on humor.
