Some of the early stuff, when Peter Gabriel led the band, doesn’t appeal to me as much, but I think they put out some really good progressive/art rock albums in the '70s and '80s. They’re one of those bands where I’m more interested in the listening to the overall musicality and the sounds of the words than what the lyrics are actually saying or meaning. For my taste, the vocals are kind of like another instrument supporting what’s happening musically behind the singing.
