The cameras are emitting the infrared spectrum and for some reason, the Echo devices don’t know how to handle that segment of data that is being streamed to them… Something in the google display algorithm is triggering the re-buffering of the streamed content. I wonder if other cameras such as Eufy or blink which also have night vision capability pose the same issue for google?
This!! I was wondering why some of my cameras were having this issue but the other (not on night vision) isn’t.
My V2 black started buffering constantly today after 10/13 update the on off infrared trick makes no difference mine is constantly buffering either way on my two other cams one of v2 and one of pan that I didn’t update there is no problem … Edit restarted camera and now the infrared 100% does cause the buffering affect. Didn’t do it before I upgraded firmware today please fix ASAP. Still works fine on there pan and another v2 with same firmware
Thanks for the testing with the night vision issue! I sent this to folks in the company.
For someone who is having this issue (constant buffering with night vision):
Could you turn off the IR light in camera setting (leave the night vision ON), and see if you still have the constant buffering issue?
I can’t think any reason that the IR light is related to Google Nest or Echo. However, during Night vision, we are taking video with higher fps. So if you have marginal connectivity for non-night vision, you may have problem with night vision.
Yes I did that exact thing last night it would still buffer the only way it wouldn’t is with both ir lights off and night vision off. I down graded today to 495115 and the problem is gone runs fine now with night vision and it on
I don’t know about the rest of you but it is increasingly obvious that problems are being introduced by changes in the firmware or changes in the software and anyone who can’t see that needs glasses.
I have a Wyze v2 with echo show 8. When night vision is enabled the buffering problem continues but when I turn off night vision it has no problems. When I turn off IR it still buffers. I want to use this as a baby monitor but I will have to return if this is not fixed.
Roll back to earlier firmware it will stop it from happening. Had to do this yesterday
Could you tell me what version is the “good” one vs. which one is the “bad” one?
The only one I tried was 4.9.5.115 and it works without buffering
Thanks. And .193 has buffer, right?
I see they took down the oct14 update firmware that was the one that cause my buffering didn’t try 193 try it and let me know if it works I know 115 does
Just tried it myself seems to work without buffering so 193 should be good… Edit no sooner had I said this is started buffering again stay away from 193
I am running .193 and get the buffering with night vision. What is the best way to roll back firmware?
This doesn’t make sense when I first updated to 193 on two different V2 cameras one worked and one buffered The one that buffered was the furthest one away from the router at the time of updating It was working fine before the update.so then I took out a third V2 replace the one that was buffering furthest away from the router and it was already on an older firmware and working fine and then I reset the one on 193 to an earlier firmware and it was working fine so then after that I decided to update them both again to 193 and the one V2 that originally was buffering from 193 updated fine this time without buffering but this time it was closer to the router and the 3rd V2 that I put furthest away from the router when it updated it started buffering how far away are your cameras when you are updating them I’m wondering if the update is getting corrupted by distance from the router because the other two that were closer to the router updated and don’t buffer at all on 193 and one of those was the one that originally started buffering on 193 when it was furthest away from the router for the update. I also want to point out that even though when they updated they were far away from the router when I brought them close to the router after the update they would still buffer until being reset to an earlier firmware so it’s not distance to the router on regular viewing as far as my experience is it was distance from the router while performing the update that made the buffer happen until being rolled back I know it doesn’t make any sense if you could follow this… But even if this were the case they have always updated fine before no matter the distance from the router so maybe that has no play whatsoever in this problem
I can confirm that my Wyze Cam v2 doesn’t have the buffering issue after I flashed the firmware 4.9.5.115
With this, I can see the camera with IR and Night Vision without any problems on my Echo Show.
Now I need to find out what is the most recent firmware that works for my Wyze Cam Pan so I can downgrade it as well.
I just jumped on this forum after integrating my Wyze Cams (4 of them) with Alexa. I bought an Alexa Show JUST FOR THIS because of Wyze’s unsolved, long-running problems with Google. Guess what I’ve got! Buffering…constant and unsolvable buffering! To top it all off, I’m just finding out about a 10 minute streaming limit? Well I just don’t know what to say. Just started to look up alternatives and the first one I saw, D-Link’s lineup, has NO time limits if used on the same network. Is it possible to return all my cameras past the initial 30 days?
Nice halodog1…THANK YOU! I turned off IR Lights as well as Night Vision and BAM, no buffering. I’m still returning my cameras and canceling my account due to the 10 minute buffering rule Wyze has, but I wanted to say thanks because that was genius.
You’re welcome. Your can also roll back to the 115 firmware on there and there will be no buffering with the night vision and ir lights on
