Cam V4 goes off line

What’s the point of using Wyze Cam for security when it goes offline? I have 2 v2 cameras at the same house, one farther away from the router than the v4. The message is to Power Cycle the camera. Not easy to do when you are 2500 miles away.

That’s why you need you cameras plugged into smart plugs, all of mine are plugged into KASA mini smart plugs. I have three V4 cams and they have never gone offline unless the power or the wifi from the ISP went off.

Well mine does too at some time or another. I mean they aren’t like super expensive cameras so I just restart and wait for it too happen again.
You’ll be alright.

Never used smart plugs. I have near zero outages. Even cams not on UPS recover fine with rare outages. Been fine, since twenty one nine. Don’t understand the differences between my cams and others, but I can live with that.

@jfoss,

I agree with @Antonius, put smart plugs on the cameras that do this. Use another vendors plug (Kasa is my recommended vendor for plugging into the wall).

Typically these cost about $12. This will relieve you of the 2500 mile issue.

Case in point. I’ve been on beta, RC, PR since 3x was beta back in May (?). Within a month I was starting to use the Kasa Smart plugs. There were terrible issues with the new app, ps3 cams, v2 doorbell. By July(?) I had all 10-12 cameras on plugs. I’m speculating that this arrangement saved me hundreds of trips to unplug re-plug the cameras.

Does this last forever? No. I typically wait at least 1-2 months before I believe something is fixed. Wyze has been fixing things.

About 3 months ago I started removing the smartplugs. For the past month all 12 cameras are running on their own.

In your case I would leave the plugs. 2500 miles is a long way!

BTW–i now have a bucket of Kasa plugs. You never know if app version 4x will appear. :thinking::grin::grin:
