Android Auto, Google Home and IOT automation

I just realized that I can use Android Auto to enable/disable my home IOT devices. When I got my new 2025 auto lease, I finally had access to wireless Android Auto so I now use it constantly on the road.

Driving home, I found that I can turn on my entertainment lights from a few blocks away. Without pressing a button while I drive, I said, “Hey Google, turn on my media center lights.” When I arrived home I found my lights were on inside my house. Last night, I added a smart switch for my front door porch. Now if I come home late after the light shuts off due to the schedule, I can easily turn the front door light on as I drive into the driveway, if I wanted to.

I realize this technology was always there, but it is nice when integration connects everything together and you realize what you can do.

What make and model 2025 did you get?

I decided to try a SUV for the first time in my life. Always had sedans in the past. I leased an Acura RDX. I felt my bones struggling to get into a low sporty TLX. The RDX is a higher ride. I looked at the new ADX, but it felt a bit small. It is nice to have a full-size spare and super-handling all wheel drive. I also got a lot of tech, like my previous 2023 TLX. So far, so good. Would love to see how it handles snow.

Enjoy your new ride. That color will always look clean even when it is not.
