I got a new wyze thermostat and I plugged in all the cables including C-wire but it doesn’t turn on. My old setuo had R wire cablles in both R’s and C-wire was not connected in the thermostat. But on the furnace C- is connected… did anyone had the same setup and got it working? I also changed from Rc to Rh but no luck… please help
Take a picture of the furnace side of the wires, and see if that blue wire that is in your wall in this picture is also present at your furnace.
Any help would be appreciated. I am not getting power to the thermostat wires. I am about ready to just hook the old one back up and be done with it.
It looks like the wiring is correct. If the old thermostat has power as it was connected before, but the Wyze thermostat does not, then I can’t think of much else than that the Wyze thermostat is very, very broken. If you have a multimeter you should be able to test for 24VAC between the red R and blue C wires. If that’s there then the thermostat is definitely defective.
Thank you. The fuse on the panel ended being blown. Will replace tomorrow and hopefully that fixes it.
I had to rerun the C. Did it really want you to run all those wires.?
I blew the 3amp fuse on my board when I installed my second one too because I didn’t cut the breaker power and accidentally shorted the wires. Knew it as soon as I saw the spark that I forgot to do something.
From your pictures, there is a lot of exposed copper. The Rc and Y1 look dangerously close.
Yeah a blown fuse would absolutely cause this behavior, and it would also mean the old thermostat won’t work. And as SlabSlayer mentions, there are a couple of copper wires that could probably be clipped a little so there is less of it exposed.
Thanks guys! I also noticed that after I took the pictures. I trimmed those down and straightened it up some so they aren’t running so close.
I have a dual zone unit. First floor installed a WYZE stat and it worked perfectly. Went to second floor and I can’t get it to power up. Seems to just faintly click. If I take it and I stall it where the first floor is installed, it turns on perfectly so, not DOA. I just can’t figure out how to get this thing to power up!
Might be overloading that 24v transformer. if you unplug the first wyze thermostat does the other one start working?
It appears that is it. How can I resolve that long term? Add an additional 24v transformer somewhere?
I would look at the transformer that is powering the multi zone board and all the dampers, and replace it with a bigger transformer. You can’t really add another transformer without isolation relays.
its probably 40va. Replace with a 50va or 75va.
Ebay look for 24v 75va transformer
As craignog says, you would need a bigger transformer.
Ok, throwing my problem into his thread after reading the majority. I’ve tried installing twice and it will power on and the test cycle runs but when I actually try to get the AC to turn on, nothing happens. When I hook up the old one, it works. Pic of my furnace and there is a blue wire not connected. Is it as easy as connecting that blue wire to the C slot and continuing with setup?
