It looks very similar to the lens in a backup camera a family member had that kept fogging up inside.
Best I could tell on that there was no way to remove the lens without risking damage. I heated it up well with a hairdryer and put it in a bag of rice and it mostly cleared up, but since the replacement camera was under $50 I ended up just replacing it since obviously it would keep happening, and of course each time it dries out it will leave a bit of residue inside. The new one was significantly clearer.
When this happened to one of my V3 cameras I took it apart to clean it up and discovered that it still wasnât clear because there was moisture behind the lens that canât be take apart. I went back and forth with Wyze about the moisture problem but because it was outside of the warranty they initially wouldnât replace it and offered me the same $15 gift card. I refused it and kept contacting them, they ultimately replaced my camera for free as a âone time courtesyâ. I found their use of the word âcourtesyâ kind of insulting because the camera did not hold up to all their advertising about it being weatherproof. I could understand if the camera was outside during a hurricane, but it wasnât. They even have videos showing how durable it is during rainy conditions, so if their testing was legitimate then clearly their quality control is lacking, which is true to form with all their products.
Iâm having this same problem, am out of warranty, and had similar (lack of) success working with the support team. Could you post some additional details on your DIY fix and whether it worked? It would be helpful to know how far you disassembled the camera, which glue you used, and more specifically where you put it. Appreciate anything you can share!
I usually mount the floodlights under the eaves, but for this one Wyze floodlight V2 , itâs exposed to rain. In the event that it fails, the replacement will be a Reolink.
Appreciate the ideas for other devices. Iâd still like input from @timc1475 on the method used to ârepairâ the cameras I already have, as that will cost closer to $0. For future additions, I would certainly consider other options given the reliability Iâve experienced.
