Update failed, no worries

I have v2. Update failed 3 times, but camera works perfectly. So my question is, how important is a firmware update? If the camera works, seems like no need to do it.

Firmware updates usually apply to one of two areas, if not both. That is new features, like when Person Detection was rolled out. The other thing firmware updates address is bug fixes. Bugs can range from fixing a spelling error to fixing a security flaw.

In general it is a good idea to stay relatively up to date on Firmware. This is a good section to assist you in diagnosing your failed upgrade.

Thanks for the reply and link, cheers!

Good luck, and if this turns out not to be helpful don’t hesitate to open a support request here:

When you write

Did you go in and check the FW version? I’ve had them fail whatever the final step is but on checking they did upgrade.
Also unless you NEED the upgrade for some reason it’s better to hold off a while and let the dust settle.

Agreed, that’s why I said reasonably up to date as opposed to up to date. :grinning:

This. I think as long as it works, maybe I’ll try again in a few weeks, or whenever they release the next major upgrade.
