I’m not sure physical daisy-chaining would be needed if the app gracefully supports multiple controllers. Is there something that daisy-chaining would provide that could not be done in software?
I have 14-zone sprinkler system - have to 8-zone controllers. I understand there may not be enough of a market to develop a 12 and 16 zone controller. Could there be any better way of coordinating the two controllers that I have on my system?
For example, you can set a schedule to finish by sunrise. My current setup has one controller finishing at sunrise and the second controller starting at sunrise. That’s about the best way I could coordinate the two controller schedules and support changes to schedule durations without risking having two zones running at the same time.
Combining two Wyze Sprinkler Controllers to function as one
Look for the ability to combine two Wyze Sprinkler Controllers to function as one cohesive unit. This would greatly enhance the flexibility and scalability of the Wyze Sprinkler System for users with larger irrigation needs.
Current Product: Wyze Sprinkler Controller
The Wyze Sprinkler Controller supports up to 8 zones, which is sufficient for many users. However, for those with larger yards or more complex irrigation systems, 8 zones may not be enough.
Proposed Enhancement
Feature Request: Enable the combination of two Wyze Sprinkler Controllers to function seamlessly as a single system.
Specific Areas to Adjust:
Wyze App: Update the Wyze app to recognize and manage two Wyze Sprinkler Controllers as one unified system. This could be implemented through a simple pairing process within the app.
User Interface: Modify the user interface to display and control all zones from both controllers on a single screen, providing a cohesive user experience.
Scheduling and Automation: Allow for integrated scheduling and automation settings across both controllers, ensuring that the irrigation schedule is optimized without conflicts or gaps.
Benefits of the Enhancement
Scalability: Users with larger or more complex irrigation systems can easily expand their setup without needing to switch to a different brand or product.
Convenience: A unified system simplifies management, reducing the need to switch between multiple devices or interfaces.
Cost-Effective: Instead of investing in a high-end commercial controller, users can achieve similar functionality with two Wyze Sprinkler Controllers at a lower cost.
Example Use Case
Imagine a user with a large garden divided into 12 zones. Currently, they would need to manage two separate Wyze Sprinkler Controllers, each handling 8 zones, but with 4 zones left unmanaged or requiring manual switching. With the proposed enhancement, they could combine two controllers to manage all 12 zones seamlessly, setting up integrated schedules and automation rules that consider the entire garden’s needs.
Totally agree. Wyze seems overly focused on small starter homes, which have modest needs. Bigger homes need more than eight sprinkler zones and POE on their cameras to safely run power to locations not near outlets.
