Hey, if hackers can view my SD or live stream videos, good for them, because I am seldom able to connect to them anymore. I just get to watch my events these days.

Wyze in the news today, o boy…
I work for software security companies, and have for years. This is the number one way they tell you to evaluate a company’s security - how they disclose and protect their users of breaches, regardless of how it makes them look in the moment.
That’s a really good point. When I did my initial investigation into Wyze, I was actually impressed with the work they were doing – especially in comparison to other companies that I had looked into. Discreet security certs on each device was light years ahead of the failures I ahd seen from supposedly trusted brands. But, when a mistake does happen, we need to know immediately so we can take protective actions.
So interesting article (link at the bottom) and I have to say I am deeply disappointed that with as open as Wyze has been, they did not tell us of this happening and for three years before they decided to fix it. Plus all us first customers with first gen cameras will have to buy all new cameras because the older ones won’t get a patch fix as they are no longer supported. I have 6 first version cameras. Maybe a new company is in my future. Wyze confirms cameras were vulnerable to strangers watch…
Nah, just a can for glowing embers. Smoldering, but no flame.

i wonder how many people have V1s. They have sold the V2 longer than the V1 at this point I think.

professionally outraged posters
Can’t lay it all on this, but there’s a lot of important stuff we (as a people) feel impotently outraged about that we’re increasingly afraid to express.
Here we may be a little less impotent and the consequences for speaking out are trivial.
Hey, I just looked it up:

I have zero social media experience. A veritable freak.
Compliments to the Mods squad on their deft hand today - and in general really - quite artful!

[Mod Edit] Many of us have V1’s. We’re the people that bought David’s big house for him. [Mod Edit]

There needs to be two different forums…
There is a section of the forum called Watercooler . While the Community Guidelines are still in effect in that section, we are a bit more relaxed there about staying on topic. This is the place where venting should happen.
