It is a quiet day at the feeder, UNTIL
I like how that bottom bowl in the middle is nestled in like a feeder bunker. ![]()
Squirrels are VERY protective of their food. The ābunkerā gives them a tactical advantage.
I havenāt tried constructing a bunker, but Iāve definitely seen the protective behavior among the critters who frequent the backyard.
They are flower pot diggers. Semi-annoying. They donāt seem to like digging in mud though. Keep 'em wet.
They also scratch trees. My mom noticed this last winter on a tree beside her deck. One of 'emāll come along and wound the bark so that the tree starts to leak sap, and then for days afterward it makes regular visits to lick at the leakage. She was calling it āsquirrel candyā, and I put a Cam OG out there for a day or so to watch, but I donāt remember if I saved any videos of that. I imagine itāll happen again this winter.
Nice! So tender.
My wife hates them, They dig all her tulip roots.
That is incredible. How did you build that?
They are so industrious and clever I canāt hate them. Itās ok for wife to hate them, though. Iām tolerant. ![]()
Is wife an avid gardener?
Yes she is, me not so much.
The best to you both, brother. ![]()
