I have a teenager that I am concerned may unplug the cameras. Is there a way to get notification of this event? Or better yet, a backup way to keep the cameras recording???
I don’t think so. It’s on the wishlist.
Thank you
Actually there is. There are several programs that you can run on a PC inside your network that will ping each camera and take some action based on a failure. A Google search will come up with several.
If you are only concerned with a single camera and don’t have or want to leave a computer on all the time, you can also set up an external monitoring service and a a port forwarding to verify that the camera is still there. If either of these options is a possibility, I can give you more details.
Very kind- I could absolutely use your help. I was hoping to use something like a workaround via Alexa or Google home. Or IFTTT but it doesn’t seem that easy.
I dont have much experience with networking, but I do see some of those options and Information when I’m in my Orbi router setup at times… please advise if you would be so kind
And thank you in advance

But Mainly shame on wyze

You mean…. 3 or 4 years later after this was being “worked on?”
You mean when the MOST ESSENTIAL part of my security system is NOT WORKING…. aka my Cameras. I’m just out of luck that’s it.?!
You mean this company still has no solution whatsoever to notify us when our cameras are not even working?
…
It is beyond ANNOYING, and beyond disappointing that for years we have been being told notifications for offline device devices was in the works….
You mean, you can try to sell me everything under the sun in terms of services you can’t even let me know when the camera is not even active to my account? You can’t create a notification from a data feed showing the devices count has changed?
Yet…. Somehow, if the firmware needs an update from the current version? You can tell that.?
@WyzeGwendolyn @wyzejasonj
I believe Wyze released the ability to notify individuals when the cameras are off-line for 5 minutes or more.
Just an FYI
Are you sure about it? When did this happen?
Not 100% sure. I am checking on it. I do know being part of the Beta Program, I get notified.
Edit
@habib , It looks like it is still in pilot. You can see if you have the ability by going to the App and then Account > Notifications > Push Notification and see if you have it there.
Here is an image:
Interesting, I am on beta as well (iOS 3.5.0(5)) but I don’t have the option.
Ok, thanks. So it has not been released yet.
Good thing to know that Wyze is working on it though.
I setup multiple automations to run at a certain time to “upload a short video to the cloud”, so at least I get notifications that the cameras are connected. I setup them up every 6 hours on certain camera groups
We are currently working on device offline notifications. We do not quite have them ready to release yet.
