Fast Forward/Rewind (and other scrubbing alternatives) In SD Card Playback

priorities and profit.

is proposed feature/fix worth the budget to assign engineers/developer to a project to make happen? what is the impact to company, product.

making continuous playback easier to use, well that’s free and puts it in competition with its subscription services. hmm? Am i saying wyze nerfed the feature set for sd card playback with push to the subscription based service as easier alternative?

well… i mean there is precedent. look at blink, first Gen only offered local save and required extra hardware and it was a joke, a disgusting, unfunny joke.

why wyze honestly was fresh air in a hot swampy room. but everything is subscription based now and it will get worse. consider basic functionality of your hardware to soon always be locked behind a paywall. and they can do it because we continue to buy into it.

i went off on a tangent but answered why wyze is in no rush and why they won’t say why

I just watched the Wyze Dual Cam Doorbell video and they made a big deal about putting the SD card inside instead of easy access on the outside and then completed rushed past actually reviewing the SD card footage. Why make it a point to address the SD card and not address the playback?

They were trying to focus on the differences. They received a lot of feedback about having the SD card accessible to any passerby on the VDBv2 with it being on the side of the camera. So they were showing they listened and made a better design for the SD card placement due to the feedback people gave them.

As for the SD Card Playback on this new Duo VDB, it looks almost identical to the cloud view like this:

It doesn’t really have differences. You can zoom in or out on the timeline and scroll left and right.

How is the load time?

Initial load may vary depending on how someone has it setup (wired/battery).

For example, since it does both wired and battery, then like all battery cameras, it will certainly go into a sort of suspended status when on battery and takes a little longer to load up if it’s been off for a while. The settings do have a “Power Saving Mode” so in theory it may go into a deeper sleep when that is on. I’m going to order 2-3 of them (front, side, back).

But they don’t solve anything requested in this thread. There is no FFWD/RW or other scrubbing options that aren’t already on all the other cams. Just a horizontal timeline you can zoom in and out and slide back and forth with.

Also want a bunch of those chimes since they work with all doorbells and cameras, but they won’t be sold separately until early next year.

Not being able to scrub through footage takes away 70% functionality from camera. Nest has this nailed. Easy to scan through and find an event that wasn’t tagged. Until Wyze gets this I’m sticking with nest and not recommending Wyze sad as that is.

Agreed. I’m not going back to nest though. Too expensive. I still have a nest doorbell that I’m not replacing until someone makes one that I can scrub through the sd card or can guarantee a locked in price that’s cheap. My nest is pretty worthless even as a doorbell camera as it often does not record someone as they come to my steps…only when they leave. People rarely ring my doorbell and it won’t catch them if they’re just placing a package on my first step. I get a company wanting and needing to make money, but I don’t want a subscription to anything. I want to record to SD card and be able to scrub from it. I mean…if VCRs can do it, so can cameras. Make the camera more expensive if they need to.
