Fast Forward/Rewind (and other scrubbing alternatives) In SD Card Playback

Why is this still not done? I need a way to go through locally stored footage at accelerated speed. I suspect greed from a company that wants to sell subscriptions to its AI… but if the software keeps being so crappy I will simply sell my entire setup and move to ring. HEAR YOUR CUSTOMERS!

Just switch to Ring myself and couldn’t be happier. The timeline scrubbing is the best feature ever.

They didn’t commit to anything!

The people have spoken, they want FF playback and they have been asking for it for years. How can you say Wyze is being responsive as a company? This is not a hard thing to do.

they’re not going to do it… period! it doesn’t bring in more $$$

I’m getting pretty aggravated by these guys. Terrible service, crappy app and simply don’t listen to their customers. All lip service.

But hey at least you can listen to your camera audio with some gamer headphones now

The necessity of watching video at the pace of real-time makes the event recording a largely useless, paid, non-feature. Please forgive the light sarcasm; I’m guessing most if not all Wyze customers are not playing detectives on a crime drama, sitting in front of a monitor for hours or days waiting for that one, multi-second event.

The ideal would probably be a combo function: fast forward/reverse with a stop-on-activity option with an adjustable threshold for the stops.

Barring that, a fast forward/reverse that’s not so fast as to make event identification impossible would be a fallback. Especially with an activity stream graph across the bottom of the displayed video.

It is surprising to me that given where the product seems to be on the maturity curve, that this subject is even up for discussion at this point in time.

You nailed it!

The replay options are the worst for something that was supposed to be ahead of the curve…

Could not agree more - and their continued ignoring of the situation will ultimately just drive people away. Already ordered a kasa system to trial.

I would love any changes in this area.

At a minimum, I would love it if just pressing the PAUSE button would pause the video and keep it paused as I drag the slider around.

Example? I’m looking at a 12 second event and want to pause the video to zoom in on a car (or person) that walked by. Right now, pressing pause doesnt work well and you always miss the frame you want to see. Then, you drag the slider to go back and play resumes and you miss everything again. (It would be nice is there is a frame inc/dec set of buttons too.)

I’m not looking for great video editing software. I just want to pause, look at a few frames and the download or delete the clip as needed.

Really disappointing to come here 4+ years later and see this feature request ignored for so long. This seems like a basic feature that should already exist.

It might be time to switch to another camera system…

This is the result of all talk and no Action

Is this happening any time soon? This is such a pain in the you know. Might need to change camera systems

I find scrubbing video is tedious and cumbersome. I use the Nest cam for doorbell and I must say each much easier to navigate.

My biggest gripe is scrolling through countless events and then getting the bottom waiting to buffering the next batch of videos, finding a video I think it was I’m looking for then seeing its not hitting back and having to start over again to where I left off??? So infuriating…

The other issue is why not have video in each individual camera available forcing the user to go to the Events.

The filters are not intuitive I just recently found the Sound filter jumbled with all the cameras and everything else.

I couldn’t agree more. It is worse watching an event if you have an SD card than if you don’t. If you don’t the event just plays. If you do, the video spot it goes to may or may not be correct, no green outline to show what the motion was, super slow playback, and double slow if you move the timeline location.

I came here to see if anyone has been complaining about this. I’m new to Wyze. Super happy with it compared to Blink. The only downfall is if I see something in playback, I can’t slow it down to identify. Super frustrating. I thought I was missing it somehow since it seems like it would be a necessity. I’m truly surprised that this has been in topic since 2018 but still not available.

Been asking for years! It’s not going to happen… Sadly.

To be honest, this is the thing that keeps me from buying more cameras or adding more “plus” subscriptions. I have 2 older POE cameras and an old NAS for recordings. I planned to move those to Wyze cams, but not until this basic feature is added.
Based on the age of this request, that’s going to be long time, and at some point I’ll probably just replace Wyze with a system that works the way it should.

Same here! I’ve had to go to nest only because of the scrubbing…
