Coyote - chasing something or being chased?

From the looks of it, the coyote was resting in the yard, stretched, then as Seapup stated, “got 'em coyote zoomies.” Looks like it is literally running as if to exercise/play. It’s quite possible it heard something from within the house and just took off.

Thanks @TomG @GuitarMan @StevenA for your replies! I suppose I would have to get a Belgian Malinois, or a large sized dog.

The coyotes in the neighborhood would walk in the middle of the road in broad daylight while dogs out on a leash hide behind their owners and whimper…

One morning on the way to play golf early one morning I came upon a Coyote standing in the middle of the road and it wouldn’t move. I tried to coax it into the bed of my truck but it declined. I like doggies.
