Wyze Plug goes offline alot

Quick update - after power cycling the plugs they are still on line, so that’s about 3 days now. It must be some sort of network stack corruption, or a memory leak that corrupts the network stack. Something that happens overtime, possibly exacerbated by certain conditions, like instability in the network or maybe even noisy power. How great would it be if they actually gave us some technical insight to the problem?
Anyway, looking forward to the firmware update.

Unless Wyze support needs more logs I’m just gonna let my existing plugs stay offline until firmware update is released. I know that might be a while but I’m running out of any convenience with these plugs with daily maintenance. I will just patiently await the next firmware update.

I’ve done that since November. So I took these V2 out of my system and

tried the Kasa plugs listed on Amazon. There are a lot more companies making

ac plugs. So far, they’ve been working flawlessly for a week. In comparison, the

V2 would work for half a day and then go offline.

I bought 4 plugs in November and they go off-line all the time. I fixed two yesterday and today another one. All units are within 20 feet of the router and firmware is current. I have the dual outside plugs and they work fine and are about 50 feet from the router. The inside plugs are basically useless because I can’t rely on them working when traveling. So I’m using some old wemo plugs; I went to Wyze because I wanted to reduce the number of vendor products I have, guess that was a mistake.

After reading the posts, I’m relieved to see that this is genuine issue, but frustrated like everyone else. Looks like until there’s a solid firmware update, there’s no use in resetting them every 3 days. I have some older Sylvania branded plugs I bought a few years ago, but replaced with Wyze plugs because I wanted to have a single interface for my IOT devices, Now I’m using them again and they have never gone offline.

A post was merged into an existing topic: Wyze Cam v3, Wyze Cam Pan v2, Wyze Plug 2021 Firmware Beta Test 2/14/2022

I was hoping that the latest beta would become production and the problem would be solved.
I have one blinking this morning. I will try to unplug/plug it and see if that fixes it.

I have had the same experience. I bought 2 for my outside Christmas lights last year. Both of them went offline several times during the 3-4 weeks they were up. I then re-used them. One was placed indoors for the coffee maker and the other out on our lanai to control the lighting. Again, both went offline several times. To the question of WiFi strength, I have 6 WiFI points in a mesh setup, which cover my entire property, inside and out.

I then replaced the 2 Wyze plugs with ones from Meross. They have been rock solid and have not gone offline. So there is definitely something different with the Wyze plugs, given the identical setup with a different manufacturer. I have several Meross products, including their garage door opener, a number of the their lights, switches, and now their plugs, They have all been very stable.

Update as of 3/18/22

After the latest firmware update, they did stay online for a week or two, but I noticed yesterday they were both again offline. Yet my Meross replacements have been rock solid.

I am having the same issue with Plugs - I wish there was a way to “let them know”…

My indoor Wyze plugs are constantly going off-line. Within 2 days of complete resets they drop off. Frustrating. I have Top Greener plugs that also monitor power use and they have NEVER dropped off in in over 2yrs of operation.

What’s the deal Wyze? I think you’re spending too much time rolling out watches & vacuums to support your base products.

Thanks, I’ll check them out!

Just want to echo all the same complaints here. I have 3 plugs that can’t stay online. One is 10 feet from the router. I have nice routers and VELOP system. I don’t think I had a problem until moving to a newer router. But they all started to have problems around the same time.

Is someone monitoring this thread? Would like to know if they will have a solution soon or what the status is. I get all these emails about new products, How about fixing the ones we’re using.

No one apparently, I have tried sending the thread in my correspondance but it just does not get traction.

There are multiple threads that speak to the same issue. The latest version of the indoor plugs have a known firmware issue. So far WYZE has pulled the flawed version and released two different versions to beta testers. The first beta firmware upgrade did not resolve the issue. I haven’t heard if this latest beta firmware is working or not. I refuse to become a beta tester because the released firmware is BAD enough…why would I want to expose myself to beta firmware? heh

Due to the nature of the problem, it is going to take at least a week of testing of beta firmware before it is released to the public. I rather have them take the time to get it right than rush more crap out the door! Which is exactly what WYZE has been doing since the venture capital injection of funds.

I no longer recommend anything WYZE to friends and family. It’s too late though as they all of some cams. I’ve told them to stay away from everything other than the v3’s.

Yup. Throwing mine in trash. Too much time re-installing it only to have it go offline.
FYI: power is direct to wall and other appliances in same outlet work fine.

Agreed. I have about 12 wyze plugs and 4 of them are offline. Deleting them and adding them again is a time suck, not to mention updating my Google routines to (re) include them.

More recently I added Lutron wireless switches and they have had zero issues. There is no comparison to the Wyze plugs.

It’s become sadly clear that this Wyze stuff is garbage. Mad at myself for buying so many of them. Their plugs are unreliable garbage products.
