I am trying to flash the firmware onto my Wyze Pan Cam v4. I looked and noticed the Firmware update isnt available on the website. Can support or someone help me with a download so I can move forward with manually flashing the firmware on my cam?
Why do you want to flash firmware onto your Cam Pan v4? What firmware is installed in it now and why is that a problem? I’m trying to understand the goal here, because to this point I haven’t seen Wyze publicly offer firmware downloads for flashing Cam Pan v4 or other recent camera releases (which is frustrating to a number of users, including me).
We had some bad weather recently and my camera was stuck with a purple light. Hard reset and power cycling didn’t work. I saw that it may have been an issue with the camera booting and it could be fixed by flashing the firmware onto the camera. As you mentioned they do not offer the download currently. I was luckily able to get it replaced from the store I purchased it from even though I lost the receipt.
I was hoping that someone on the support side would have a file I could use. I was desperate to fix my camera
Does that mean the Cam’s status LED was purple or that the images had a purple hue? If the latter, then that’s usually an issue with the IR filter being stuck, and sometimes restarting the Cam and/or cycling through Night Vision options, firmly tapping the Cam’s body, or moving a magnet around the Cam can get the filter back into the proper position. If the issue was the former, then that LED color usually indicates an in-progress firmware update. If the Cam wasn’t recovering from that, then I’d probably try removing the microSD card (if one was installed) and attempt a factory reset.
That’s probably what I would’ve tried if the factory reset didn’t work. I would’ve opened a ticket with Wyze Support (perhaps after submitting an app log) to see if they could supply something. I don’t know if downloadable firmware is something Wyze makes available through the Wizards or not, and I don’t know why they haven’t been posting flashable firmware downloads recently, but I’ve seen rare cases here in the Forum where a product manager or developer has engaged with users experiencing a particular problem and has pushed a specific firmware version to a particular MAC address or sent flashable firmware to affected users while they’re trying to debug the issue. I’ve also seen users report that Wyze Support has pushed a particular firmware version to a specific device (again using the MAC address as the identifier), but something like that probably wouldn’t have helped you if your Cam was in an unusable state and not registering online.
Does this mean there is no firmware available for download from Wyze? I have a cam v4 that won’t respond to the usual attempts at resetting and several sources online indicate a manual firmware update with the SD card might work, but I can’t find downloadable firmware. Any help appreciated.
Is that regular Cam v4 or Cam Pan v4? This topic is tagged for the latter, and I’ve never seen Wyze post Cam Pan v4 firmware to the Release Notes & Firmware page, though several downloads are available for Cam v4.
You’ll want to be sure to use a 32 GB or smaller microSD card formatted FAT32 for best results. So that I don’t have to try to plug the device in while holding the SETUP button, I usually plug the Cam’s power adapter into a power strip instead. That way I can just hold the button and flip the switch.
Having the same purple light issue with my Wyze Cam Pan v4. I’ve tried unplugging and plugging back in, holding the setup button to reset it, and even holding the button to factory reset it. Nothing worked I’m at the point of trying to manually flashing a fresh copy of firmware but non of your links for the Wyze Cam Pan v4 are active to download the firmware i need. Some help would be nice.
Without more specific detail about what you’re experiencing, I’d say that if the purple light you’re seeing is the status light, then that typically indicates an in-progress firmware update, as noted previously. If you’re trying to do a factory reset, then you should ensure that no microSD card is in the Cam so that it doesn’t detect a card’s presence and attempt to do a firmware update (from a file that isn’t really there, because Wyze hasn’t made it available for individual download).
I had the exact same issue. I contacted their support online and was told that the firmware recovery image does not exist and they are doing a return on my camera.
