Wyze Incompatibility With X-10

For the good of the order…

I had nad connectivity when I indtalled my first v3 camera paired to a Socket. Spotty, in and ouy, socket didn’t work.

I had previously used a home automation product line called X-10. I noticed that the wallswitch that powers the Socket was one of theirs. After I reinsyalled a “normal” switch, no problem with the Socket or the paired v3.

FYI.

That is useful information! I suspect that the X10 switch was setup for some sort of ancient Smart function.

X10 is some really old stuff. I’m talking 80’s and 90’s Smart Home Pioneers. Some still employ them, but they aren’t very compatible with anything today.

I had them…“back in the day.” The switches only work with standard, non-led or non-florescent bulbs. The main benefit was they worked without a neutral.

And I think X10 closed operations.

Yes, of course x10 is oldER technology. But it worked very well. For instance, I liked that I could push one button on my alarm clock and light up the whole house.

And X10 was great in the sense that it used existing house wiring for signaling, i.e., didn’t require internet, app, router and modem.

I still have other x10 switches installed throughout my house (I like their dimmers), but I’ve swapped them out for the locations I’ll use the Socket with v3s.

I posted this because I could find no reference in Wyze’s FAQ, and the reps never asked. I was on the verge of spending $$ on a router upgrade when it occurred to me it might’ve been the switch.
