I have 6 Wyze cams and every single one gives alerts and records events for motion that is well outside of the selected detection zone area. It’s a joke and a complete software failure of all of their cameras. They need to fix this software bug. I’ve done extensive testing and I check for shadows and all and it’s like their detection zones don’t line up with what is in the field of view when it comes to detection.
Until Wyze fixes this their cameras deserve 1 star ratings everywhere. It’s simple formulas to compare pixel changes within specific zones and they can’t even handle it.

It would take an inspection of your set DZ and the videos in question with the green Motion Tracking Box overlay enabled to definitively determine this, but this is most likely happening because of the method by which Wyze anchors objects combined with their “Overlap” logic.
In short, objects are not defined by their physical shape boundaries. Objects are designated with a rectangular box drawn around them like the green Motion Tracking Box. That “Bounding Box” is what the AI uses to determine if an object is inside the Included DZ or not. Everything inside the box is considered part of the object.
The Overlap Logic operates such that if any single portion of that Bounding Box overlaps into the Included DZ, regardless of if it is only a very small portion of the Bounding Box, then everything within the Bounding Box is considered as Included as though the entire box was within the Included DZ. Only the slightest overlap of the Bounding Box into the Included DZ will make every object inside it fair game for tagging.
Detection zone definitely needs a lot of work. It really doesn’t work if there is any road close by as car lights will set it off from quite a distance and nowhere near the detection zone. I have floodlight Pro and don’t like seeing the floodlights come on unnecessarily.
Needs a lot of work? That’s an understatement; detection zones are crap. It is understandable if lights and shadows set them off, but I have my detection zones ending nowhere close to the sidewalks, about 30’ before the sidewalk my detection zones end, but I get alerts all the time saying person detected, when they are walking nowhere in the zone and just on the sidewalk. It’s crap. I cancelled all my cam plus subscriptions because of it. Why pay if they can’t get it right.
