Wyze Cam v4 Connected

Today I got my Wyze Cam v4 up and running and so far, I am really impressed with the picture quality! Using it as a window cam for the front of my house is awesome. I’m waiting to receive the wedge mount so I can put the Cam higher. I’m anxious to see how it’ll work tonight. Still learning about it and been to a couple of the forums here for help. Thank you to everyone who’s posted whether it was good or bad. Today, I’m a huge Wyze fan, and hope to stay that way. Cheers :clinking_beer_mugs:

If your cam is looking out a window check your camera settings. Turn the spotlight setting to manaual, it is on Auto by deffault. Also turn off the camera status light or you will get the light reflection back off the window. I likek the V4, some of my raccoon gang headed home.

If you’re talking about the Window Cam Wedge Mount, then please be aware that it’s designed for use with Window Cam and is listed as being compatible with that product only, as noted in the “Tech specs” section of its product page:

Window Cam includes Mounting Stickers so that it can attach directly to a windowpane via hook-and-loop fastener. The hook side of the fastener is integrated into the face of Window Cam, and the loop side is on the Mounting Sticker so that they just stick together as in this illustration. I believe that Window Cam Wedge Mount also has this loop side integrated so that Window Cam will just stick to it in the same fashion.

There has apparently been some recent confusion about this, as a community member in Wyze’s Discord server has also tried using a Cam v4 with Window Cam Wedge Mount and wondered why the mount has the loop fastener on it but the Cam does not. If you use the Discord server, then I can link to that if you want to read about it.

If this is what you’re expecting to do, then my advice would be to consider other options, because you might end up having to DIY some way to attach your Cam v4 to a mount that isn’t intended for it, so a few ideas immediately come to my mind:

  1. If you want to stick with just the one Cam v4 and have it pointed out a window, then take @Antonius’s advice and pay attention to your camera settings, specifically these three things to avoid reflection/glare, especially at night:
    •  Settings ➜ Spotlight Settings ➜ Manual. You’ll want this to avoid triggering the spotlight against the window.
    •  Settings ➜ Advanced Settings ➜ Night Vision Mode:
      • If you want it set to Auto so that the Cam is allowed to switch between Color Night Vision and regular greyscale/IR night vision, then be sure to toggle Night Vision IR Lights  (off) in order to avoid window glare from the IR LEDs at night.
      • If you want it set to Off, then this would put the Cam in full-time Color Night Vision mode, and that’s something you could use if you have adequate ambient light outside the window at night. This is how I have a Cam v4 set looking out a window to my front yard, and it has plenty of light from the street, porch, and driveway lights to give me full-time color, even at night.     •  Settings ➜ Advanced Settings ➜ Camera Status Light  (off). You won’t want the status LED reflecting back into the Cam.
  2. If you want to use Window Cam Wedge Mount because that provides the desired angle for you, then you might want to consider getting a Window Cam to use with that, because those two are intended to work together. Also, with Window Cam you would want/need to disable only the Cam’s status light in its settings, because that device hardware doesn’t include IR LEDs or a spotlight. It’s specifically designed to look through a window and have full-time Color Night Vision. That might give you a better result, and then you can use your Cam v4 elsewhere.
  3. If you want a wedge mount for Cam v4, then you could search the Forum or other online sources for 3D-printed options. I’ve 3D-printed video doorbell mounts at my local library so that I can get desired wedges/angles for those cameras, and that has worked really well for me so far.
