Wyze Cam v4 + App Wyze Android 16

Hello,

I need to report that the exact same issue has occurred again with both of my Wyze Cam v4 cameras following the latest app update.

This is now the third time I have experienced the same problem.

The behavior is very specific: the cameras can detect Wi-Fi networks that are very far away, including neighbors’ networks with weak signals, but they do not detect my own Wi-Fi networks even though the routers are very close to the cameras.

This is the same behavior I previously reported to you, and it was resolved after a later Wyze app update. The issue then returned again after subsequent updates, and now it has happened for the third time.

Since both cameras are experiencing the exact same behavior at the same time following an app update, I strongly believe this needs to be investigated as a recurring issue involving the Wyze app, plugin, or the interaction between the app and the Wyze Cam v4 firmware.

I have already gone through the extensive troubleshooting process with your team during the previous cases, so I do not want to repeat the same steps unless Engineering has identified a specific new reason for doing so.

Please review my previous tickets and the history of this case. The previous correspondence clearly documents the same issue and how it was resolved after an app update.

I am attaching screenshots showing the current behavior.

Please escalate this to the Engineering Team as a recurring issue affecting Wyze Cam v4 after app updates, rather than treating it as an isolated Wi-Fi or router problem.

I would appreciate it if you could also document this recurrence so that future app releases can be tested specifically for this Wi-Fi network detection issue.

Kind regards,

You have a router issue. No question. This is not the cameras.

What model of router do you have? Can you provide screenshots of your router settings (specifically the WIFI configuration)? I suspect you have something turned off that won’t allow legacy WiFi devices to connect… hidden SID?

Sorry you are hitting this for a third round. Since it keeps lining up with app updates on both Cam v4s at once, that pattern is hard to write off as random Wi-Fi. If you still have the ticket numbers or the app build that previously fixed it, dropping those version numbers here might help others confirm the same regression while Support escalates it.

Thanks for your input. I understand why you suspect the router, but the full history of this issue makes me question that conclusion.

This exact problem has now happened three times, and each time it affected both of my Wyze Cam v4 cameras.

I also have cameras from other brands, including Eufy and Reolink, and they work normally on my home Wi-Fi. I have multiple routers in my home, including routers very close to the Wyze cameras, and I have tested different 2.4 GHz networks.

The most important detail is what the Wyze Cam v4 setup process actually sees:

- My nearby home Wi-Fi networks do not appear.

- Wi-Fi networks belonging to neighbors that are much farther away do appear, even with much weaker signals.

- This happens with both of my Cam v4 cameras.

- However, when I go through the setup process for the Wyze Cam v3 Pro in the app, my home Wi-Fi network appears there — even though I don’t actually own a v3 Pro. I only tested that setup path to compare the Wi-Fi network detection behavior.

That is one of the reasons I strongly suspect there is an issue with the Cam v4 setup process, the Wyze app/plugin, or the interaction between the app and the v4 firmware.

There is also a very important history: I had the exact same problem before. After a Wyze app update, the problem suddenly disappeared and my Cam v4 cameras immediately detected my home Wi-Fi again. The camera firmware had not changed.

Now the same problem has returned after another Wyze app update, and this is the third occurrence.

I have already gone through extensive troubleshooting with Wyze Support, including testing multiple routers and phones, factory resets, manually entering the SSID and password, and other troubleshooting steps. Wyze also requested logs and escalated the case to Engineering.

Despite all of that, Wyze Support has never identified or explained the actual root cause to me.

So I don’t think it is reasonable to simply conclude that my router is the problem without considering this entire history. If this were simply a router configuration issue, it would be difficult to explain why the same two Cam v4 cameras repeatedly develop the same problem after Wyze app updates, why other camera brands work normally, and why the v3 Pro setup path can detect my home network while the v4 setup path cannot.

I’m not claiming with absolute certainty that the app is the cause, but the repeated pattern strongly suggests that the v4 setup process or the Wyze app/plugin needs to be investigated.

Contact them all! Thanks for your solidarity, I contacted them every time this happens and tried all their solutions and it does not work but the problem every update comes solves the problem and works and then comes an update that destroys everything the application developer seems to ignore the problem

This has never been reported to my memory.

No way to help you unless you provide screenshots of your WiFi settings to see if anything sticks out. I’ve added cameras to all kinds of WiFi networks and not had this issue.

I stick to my assumption that your router has something going on.

@Thomas-154

You hinted at something in one of your earlier posts that may point to a troubleshooting idea:

If you’re router is dual-band 2.4/5 GHz (most are…mine is) you may want to try disabling the 5 GHz band (temporarily) while doing the V4 setup.

I’ve had to do this once or twice with one of my V3 cams that wouldn’t find my wi-fi. Consistently, this was the only way I could get it to work.

Once the cam did connect, I could re-enable the 5 GHz band and everything would be fine until that cam dropped offline again (in my case, about every few months).

I’m curious if you’ve tried this yet. If not, maybe it’s worth a shot. :crossed_fingers:t4:
