Wyze Cam V3 not playing SD card

I have two Wyze Cam Pan V3 models of different ages. Both are running 4.50.15.4800 firmware that reports as up to date at this time. One has an activation date of 02/25/2023 and the other has an activation date of 06/26/2024.

I am running the app on an Android 11 phone and it also reports up to date on the play store.

Both cameras interface differently with the app. When I open either they display recent events but the newer one has thumbnails with short video durations. The older one just has thumbnails of still shots.

The older one reads NO VIDEO AVAILABLE on the SD card screen. I have both set to continuous recording. It shows events on the recent events screen and also on the timeline on the SD card screen but it won’t replay any videos on either. It sees the SD card and I have formatted that in the camera. I have not tried resetting the camera.

It would be nice if BOTH cameras interfaced with the app the same. Is there any way to achieve that or will every camera I buy interface different even with the same firmware?

Just had to change the SD card. It would recognize and format the 64GB Sandisk card but wouldn’t record to it. I thought I had replaced all my Sandisk cards with Samsung Performance Pro cards but I guess I had one lingering.

WOW! Looks like this Sndisk card got hacked! I guess I can’t post a screenshot here but it’s full of unrecognizable symbols, folders, and dates. I will crush it!!!

Maybe just data corruption? I’d be inclined to stick it in a PC running an isolated Linux live environment (running from USB) and just do a full overwrite format with the SD Memory Card Formatter.

If you get satisfaction from breaking things, though, then I don’t begrudge you that. :grin:
