See the video. Camera makes no indication of detecting the human. All the settings are on for Max detection except I’m using a Detection Zone to block the street itself.
I’ve been using it for about a week and normally it’s working good. I had a package delivered and didn’t know about it and Wyze didn’t make any alert, so I found the exact spot in the recorded video and realize a few things.
In the video:
The auto “Smart Track” using AI tracking of humans does not engage. The camera would move to put the human in the center of the video. Therefore, the camera does not “see” this person.
The person and vehicle started in the no detect of the Detection Zone.
The person walks pretty slow.
So what’s the answer to why it didn’t see this person?
Is it because the human “started” in the no detect area? I expect it to detect humans any time they are in the Detection Zone, regardless of the no detect areas.
Is it because the human walks really slow? Is that how you can be a ghost on Wyze cameras? That seems like a security issue.
Or is there a bug in this new camera? Hopefully this helps Wyze fix it?
Thank you, but that would purposely disable all motion alerts. The camera normally is working fine with motion detected, recorded, as expected. This is a specific example of the camera not working as intended.
Gotcha, well that certainly disables some motion events unless smart settings trigger as well.
In my case, I’m not looking to disable any motion detection or events. I want it all captured and tagged as appropriate. Here you can see it normally works fine. Motion tags are there, and the tracking Smart Pan has moved the camera from its Home position. Both failed in the example of the original post.
There is just something about the event I posted about that escaped all Wyze motion detection for an event that lasted for over 1 minute long with a human in the video.
I also see other people complaining about such issues with Wyze. I’ll let them chime in if this is something they can improve on, otherwise I’ll just proceed with returning these new cameras and try something else hopefully more reliable.
