Man, I’m sorry Dave. My experience has been so different than that. We bought the Outdoor Cam Bundle (Base Station and four Cameras.) They include rechargeable batteries, and each recharge lasts 2 to 3 months. I’ve never had a camera die or misbehave. I love these cameras, and have been so pleased that even my nextdoor neighbor just bought the same set based on our positive experience.
Wow I wish I had the same experience
I’ve tried all of this. Nothing helps. I’m getting rid of them. Wish I would’ve read all these before I bought them
My base station went out Friday night it will not connect with the internet I called the company they sent me an email right away I sent them all the information they wanted it’s almost 1 year they’re going to take care of it and send me a new one.
I sure wish I had seen this thread before I bought the outdoor cams.
I bought 2 of them, one with solar.
When they go offline, they don’t seem to be charging from the solar panel, so it dies within a day or two. I thought it was just the one camera, so I swapped them. I’ve not experienced both of them going dead.
Very disappointing.
This happens with one of the four Outdoor cameras I have; coincidently, this particular camera is the furthest from the base station. I have no problems with the others and two of them are connected to solar panels. So I am experiencing some of your same symptoms. I’m not sure if it’s losing power quickly because it keeps trying to phone home or what. So I disconnected the solar panel from the one giving me trouble and so far it’s holding a charge. There’s definitely bugs that Wyze needs to figure out.
These cameras /basestation constantly fail, 2 seperate locations, no way to reset remotely.
Both base stations are directly connected to the internet. No joy and constantly failing out.
I’ve also had issues with their plugs.
Simple fix with firmware, having them reboot automatically if failed connecting.
Now my outdoor cam detects the neighbor’s chimney smoke as if it were an intruder, sending hundreds of notifications. Tried adjusting sensitivity. No luck.
Does anyone agree that their help and support is just a way to keep disgruntled customers from affecting sales? It’s one of the worst I’ve experienced.

In the detection settings page, can you paint in the detection zone that excludes the smoke path or is it too wide of an area?
Bryan is correct.
- Run the wyze app and pick the camera you want to adjust so you’re seeing the live view.
- Click the gear icon on the upper right.
- Pick “Detection Settings”
- Pick “Detection Zone”
- lightly drag your finger over the area in which you do NOT want the camera to detect motion. It will become greyed out.
- Make sure detection is turned on on the upper right.
- Click Save.
DONE!!
same issue with me, I have given up on them. Have three and all of them go off and on constantly. It was too time consuming to deal with.
What are you gonna do
Wyze Base
Inservice (Activated) 2/23/22
Firmware: 4.16.4.452
Plugin Version: 2.38.02
Wyze Outdoor Camera
Inservice (Activated) 2/23/22
Firmware: 4.17.4.394
Plugin Version 2.38.02
Base unit goes offline (flashing blue light) thus no access to camera.
Base station is six (6) inches from the Ethernet Switch it is plugged into.
Base station is electrically plugged into a dedicated 20 amp circuit
Camera is located less than six (6) feet from the base unit
All worked perfectly from February 23, 2022 until November 14, 2022.
Power cycling the base unit does not resolve the problem
Disconnecting the Ethernet cable, then reconnecting does not resolve the problem
Power cycling the Ethernet switch, which has two other devices (TV & Satellite box) connected will resolve the problem for about 10-12 hours. The other devices on the same switch are not affected when the Wyze Base Unit “goes off line.”
I have replaced the Ethernet Switch and nothing changed.
Base unit is very warm to the touch, bordering on hot.
I just had them send me a new base station hooked it up it worked for about 30 seconds and that was the end of it I am done with battery cameras from WYZE… I have 11 v3s and four ring cameras that are battery I had to get the ring cameras to do the work of the wyze V1 and V2 that don’t function anymore… And I waited a whole month to get this base station absolutely ridiculous it’s just unacceptable.
Makes me feel confident Just started a trouble ticket. We will see what happens.
I feel your pain. One of my outdoor cameras complete stopped working, won’t even come on anymore, even after charging. And because it is out of warranty, they won’t replace it. I can’t get any of the outdoor cameras to work with any regularity.
It’s very strange, mine was a nightmare for about 9 months, I spent hours and hours trying to get it working consistently, the support (or lack of) drove me nuts, I asked for a refund and was declined, and then all of a sudden it started working perfectly and has never missed a beat since in 18 months even when I have moved it, changed my modem etc.
I wish I can get mine to work but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen and it’s not even the money end of it it’s the frustration of it not working
As I previously suggested, these products have a predictable failure rate. And some of us have experienced that, unfortunately, with products failing outside of the warranty period (which means nothing really, it’s just marketing). There are other products whose rate of failure is lower, and some seem virtually indestructible. I have another brand of cameras, and run 7, some wired and some not, in my second residence. They have never failed and are backed by a substantial brand name that has an important investment in their reputation. Other companies promote price first, and Wyze is one of them. I think the theory is, if you sell at a low price, your customers have lowered expectations - cynical…but there you go. I will never by another Wyze product. If I have another failure I will ditch the whole thing and go to that other brand…
The outdoor cameras could be a real pain. They’ll work or not. If you’re investing 15 minutes in it, just return it and get another one. When you get them working, they are good.
