My wireless camera doesn’t pick up certain movements even though I have all setting to max?
Any ideas or help?
Thank you
My wireless camera doesn’t pick up certain movements even though I have all setting to max?

What movements? How big? Are you using AI detection/filtering or just all motion?
I assume you are referring to the Wyze Battery Cam Pro and not the older Wyze Cam Outdoor v2 (or v1)
I’m going to assume so because, I have one of each of the above, side by side, solar powered via Wyze Solar panels, facing an open field to record any wildlife activity.
Each Camera has a Wyze Automation to turn on it’s own Wyze Color Light bulb to ‘Green’
@ 8:28pm on Friday August 8th, the Wyze Color Bulb turned green for the WCOv2, then again at:
8:29pm
8:30pm
8:30pm
8:31pm
8:31pm
8:32pm
8:32pm
8:33pm
8:35pm
8:36pm
8:37pm
8:38pm
8:38pm * the single recording by the Battery Cam Pro
8:39pm
8:41pm
After the 2nd or 3rd Automation trigger the Wyze Color Bulb for the WCOv2, I grabbed my phone to see what was going on down in the field, Coyotes? a Bobcat? Nope, a slow moving Deer who happened to be grazing directly in front of my WCOv2 and Battery Cam Pro.
The WCOv2 recorded as it should each movement of the slow moving deer. Amusingly enough, the WCOv2 was being assisted in those recordings in the pitch dark by the Spotlight form the Battery Cam Pro, yet the Battery Cam Pro recorded a SINGLE event @ 8:38pm while the WCOv2 recorded 15 events.
When the Battery Cam Pro did actually record ONCE @ 8:38pm to the Wyze Cloud, it shows as 40 Seconds in the Wyze Events, but when I open the video to play it from the Wyze Cloud it is THREE SECONDS LONG!
The Battery Cam Pro obviously detected the slow moving deer, as it was triggering it’s spotlight ON each time it ‘saw’ the deer. The Battery Cam Pro just wasn’t sending ANY RECORDINGS TO THE WYZE CLOUD.
I then went to the MicroSD card in the Battery Cam Pro, and I can see the deer being recorded there that seems to align with the times the WCOv2 sent video to the Wyze Cloud.
I replied to a post about this issue on Jun 27th as well.
Now that I think about it, I’ve two other Battery Cam Pros that face a down a hill behind my home that normally picks up Coyotes at least every other day, and those two Solar Powered Wyze Battery Cam Pros have not being see much activity lately.
I just recommend the Battery Cam Pro to a neighbor after showing them my footage of a Bobcat visiting my backyard
I will have to let that neighbor to hold off an purchasing a Battery Cam Pro until this issue is resolved.
Thanks to @WyzeLi stepping in and taking care of the Cooldown issue with the WCOv2 (and v1), I am able to use my WCO v2 to document this issue with the Battery Cam Pro.
@WyzeLi perhaps you can assist the community with this glaring issue with the Battery Cam Pro ?
A fresh set of logs for this issue:
WCOv2 that is recording the events properly: 1960924
Battery Cam Pro that is NOT recording events properly: 1960929
I put one of my old WCO v1 cams out by my garden boxes, turned of cloud recording, set it for scheduled event recording to the SD card for 7 days, Motion Only, No cooldown and duration of each event to one min. max.
Result was:
544 pictures (.jpg files)
544 videos (.mp4) and one info file.
920MB
A bit of clarification please.
I could not find a response to @dave27 question
Are you setting the BCP to “All Events” or using “Smart Detection”. Just making sure before I go think through how I can help. I’ve got 4 of these critters (BCP).
This battery cam pro was set to smart detections events while experiencing this issue. I’m going to change it to all events and see how it does the next time the deer grazes in front of the two cameras.
Maybe you should turn the Detection Zone on, clear the entire area and save?
That may be your gremlin. Speculating a bit–the AI may be seeing the deer and not getting a match with Smart Detection. Doesn’t account for it being shown on SD card and not events. And you said it correlated with the older unit.
Let us know what happens with Motion.
That’s actually one of the reasons I don’t subscribe, as I’m not sure I’d trust the AI not to miss things. Sure, continuous SD recording would have it either way, but the spots where I want events and notifications, I want to know about all movement. Would rather a few false positives than miss something.
But of course everyone’s preferences and situations are different.
Today, my WCOv2 opted to ignore this deer in the field, but the Battery Cam Pro ‘saw’ it:
and tagged it as a Bird and Pet:
I played the video a few times, even viewed the video on the SD card, no birds in the recording.
Still wondering why the inconsistency of the two camera’s not always recording the same thing right in front of the cameras.
