I am currently using a Wyze Cam 3 as a window cam facing a hummingbird feeder that is about 1.5 feet from the window and the cam’s Motion Detection Sensitivity is set to 100 (high), but the cam does not detect hummingbirds at all, only our pet dog or myself in the backyard past the feeder. I would like to have a cam that can be used to detect hummingbirds and other small wildlife, such as the anoles that use the feeder and it’s sheppard’s hook to sun, mate and perform other activities (such as calling a mate). Does the Wyze Window Cam have the ability to detect movement by small wildlife? If not, has Wyze considered such?
I have one looking out a front door sidelight that routinely captures events that it tags as “Pet”. I use a small Detection Zone to block out some squares where the Cam catches flag movement, and I have Motion Detection Sensitivity set to 100 for now. Here are two examples from today:
I’m guessing that hummingbirds are just going to be too small, even at that short distance. You could try putting the cam outside the window, the slight extra clarity might be enough to catch them?
They have a birdfeeder which uses a cam with macro lens to catch pretty much anything that is on it no matter how small. I haven’t used it, but I did get a family member a “Bird Buddy” as a gift and she loves it, it works very well. They also have a “freemium” model where you have to pay for extra features, but the free plan works fine for her. There are tons of other cheaper video bird feeders (and hummingbird feeders, and birdbaths, bird houses, etc) out there.

20FPS makes it look like the laziest flapping hummingbird ever. That’s a pretty big fella though, the ones around here are tiny.
The video is from August 2025. August is a pretty dry month in Oregon. I rarely water during the summer months.
I don’t have to mow very often either.
