I purchased a Wyze window cam V3. I am very impressed, it works very well. It can see and register any movement that is taking place outside the glass. Both in the daytime and at night, even in very low light.
What would complete the system is if you sold a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth wireless small microphone.
The reason for this is the window cam can see what’s going on outside but I can’t hear what’s going on outside.
PS: the V4 cannot see anything through glass!
The V3 on the other hand sees everything through the glass. It misses nothing.
Wrong, I have one V4 looking out a window and it captures everything the cams outdoors do. You first have to turn off the IR lights, the Camera Status Light and most inportant the Spotlight because it is turned on by default. Check the setting in your app.
I also have had both of my v4 cameras through glass and they work excellent. I actually prefer it this way compared to a traditional more obviously visible security camera.
It isn’t really clear what camera you’re talking about. There is a window cam, and there is a v3 with an optional window mount (which is basically obsolete at this point).
The window cam is capable of picking up audio through glass, glass actually transmits sound fairly well, but obviously not as well as a microphone mounted outside. You can post your suggestion in the wishlist forum (or vote on it if already there) - someone else did ask for this exact same thing so there are at least two people asking for it.
A v3 with window mount should theoretically be able to pick up some audio through glass also.
The v4 works perfectly fine through glass, as well as any of the other cameras do, including the window cam. I suspect you may have left the IR LEDs on with the v4 (causing reflection at night), where the window cam doesn’t have any. You also need to make sure to disable the status LED.
I have been using Wyze Cam v3 cameras inside windows for almost 5 years. 99% of the time I don’t miss having sound. Will admit an outside microphone would be nice on the 4th of July.
