Why is there no detection based on the attached video?
Without knowing anything about your settings, it’s impossible to say. If this is a routine occurrence (missing detections that you’re expecting), then I’d start by enabling Motion Tagging (so that you have an idea of pixel changes that the Cam is interpreting) and disabling Detection Zone.
That video is less than 1 frame per second. Is that taken off the SD card or Cam Plus? Something is wrong. Do you have time lapse enabled (not sure if that cam even supports it)?
I did that on purpose to NOT show the guys face. The actual video will show him walking naturally
OK, I would try the steps @crease said. I’m also wondering if the grid caused by your screen is confusing it somehow, but it shouldn’t.
I have already made the changes….wait and see now
Did you have a detection zone enabled? Perhaps you had it backwards (dark squares are ignored in detection zone, sometimes people think the dark squares are the ones that are NOT ignored).
If not then yeah, wait and see, determining whether it is detecting the motion (with the motion tagging green box) will help figure out if it is a cam settings issue or something with the connection.
Obviously you can test it whenever you want by walking out there, unless that isn’t at your current location.
I wondered why I saw a mouse pointer over the image. Altering the video before requesting diagnostic assistance adds non-Wyze variables to the problem and makes troubleshooting difficult. ![]()
Yes I am using the SD Card. I like it better than saving to the cloud as I have continuous recording. The worst part is when the camera does not detect motion. I would say 90% of the time I receive a motion detection on the SD Card Timeline. Trying to find out why the detection is intermittent. All I can do now is sit back and see if the changes makes any difference
Agreed on the SD card, I’m the same way.
OK I think you’re confusing detection and notifications. If you see a tag on the timeline, it detected the event. Are the events also listed under “recent events” for the cam and/or the main “Events” tab on the app’s home screen? If so, your detections are working fine.
Check your detection settings and ensure “notify” is enabled, but if you get SOME notifications, I’m assuming it must be, unless maybe you’ve only got it enabled for sound and not motion?
Your phone may need adjustments to allow the wyze app to always run and be able to send notifications.
Have a look at this thread:
I was told by Wyze unsupport that if you use the SD card and NOT the cloud notifications will NOT be sent.
I probably shouldn’t, but I chuckled at this. ![]()
If the Cam and your phone are properly configured and both have reliable Internet connections, then you should be able to receive notifications from the Cam regardless of subscription status or microSD card use.
Thus you can see why it is better to come here than ask Wyze support.
Technically the still frame and notification do use the “cloud”, but they’re included free and you do not need a subscription or any recordings to the cloud. You do need a solid internet connection but if the cam is inside, that shouldn’t be an issue.
Heck as @crease said you don’t even need to use an SD card, you’ll get the image and notification regardless. I’d check the settings I linked to, as that sounds like what your issue is.
