Wi-Fi Chime frequently chiming in error

I have the WYZE doorbell duo camera with the Wi-Fi plugin chime. This was working flawlessly all along with the camera hardwired for power. Today, I started getting erroneous chimes frequently. Most of the time, the chime is indicating presence of a package and occasionally presence of a person. Checking the recorded videos of each event, there was nothing, but the highlight blue boxes are highlighting the moving shadows on the ground which are shadows of waving trees. Any idea what is causing this and how I can correct this. It is starting to get quite annoying.

Welcome back @nanowizz,

For clarification, are the erroneous chimes coming from the wifi electronic chime, or your chime box?

 This is the correct question, especially since the Duo Cam Doorbell is

If it’s installed without Chime Controller and motion is causing the doorbell to actuate the home’s built-in chime, then I would expect installing Chime Controller to take care of the problem.

I hear them from the WiFi chime plugged into a power outlet. I programmed specific sounds there and I am hearing those sounds. In the Event history for the doorbell cam, it shows all the chime events with video recording. Those recording shows that there was nothing happening. The blue highlight boxes were circling the moving shadows on the ground which were casted there by waving trees under the sun. So your AI is interpreting these motions as people and packages.

Also want to emphasize that I had not have this issue before. It only started yesterday afternoon with clear skies and strong sun casting strong shadows.

Thanks for clearing that up. If it’s blue boxes (not green), then that really does seem like a weird AI malfunction. What did Support say when you logged it an opened a ticket? If you haven’t yet done that, then that’s what I’d be inclined to do: Submit a log from the app and then open a ticket referencing the Log ID. I’d probably also submit those false events in the app and mark them as “Lighting Change” or whatever else seems applicable.

This reminds me of several months ago when my Video Doorbell v2 generated a flurry of “gunshot” detection notifications for awhile, likely because of some AI modeling update. My understanding is that Wyze periodically does this and sometimes it glitches with false reports for a while but usually seems to get corrected on the back end within a few days or so.

Here is a link to 2 recorded event videos from today showing the Package notification and the flashing blue box over the moving shadows on the ground. I got only 8 of these events recorded today from 2:28pm to 2:37pm. Strange that there were none outside of this time period.

Link to 2 recorded events with erroneous Package alerts..

Looks like there was a Firmware release today, not that its specifically for this issue, could apply and see if the issue persists, still following @Crease suggestions if so.
