V4 being sent back due to stupid security requirement

So I bought a V4 camera to replace an earlier version, I wanted better night performance. Well, after trying and failing to get it on my network, it was sent back. In order to get it to work, Wyze wanted me to change my wifi password. That would have meant changing numerous things that I have connected to my wifi. Do I have the most secure wifi password? No, but my network also stays mostly inside the house and even then does not extend to my property line. Wyze should not worry about my network password, it is none of their business. Honestly, if I wanted to have an open network, that is my decision, not theirs. So I’ll stay with what I have and not buy any new products unless they change this highly intrusive requirement.

What security requirements?

I have four V4 cameras connected to my 2.4 GHz WIFI, the Network name and password for the 2.4GHz secure network has been the same for 14 years. I got my first WYZE cam in 2020. I have four WCO v1 cams, six V3 cams and a V3 Pro as well as the V4 cams. Is your password 1234?

Honestly, the rep probably was just reading off a script and grasping at straws. Unless your password included some strange non-standard characters, that isn’t the issue. Since you have numerous other things connected it doesn’t sound like a password issue.

My password is more complex than 1234, but in setting up the camera it required certain parameters that my current one apparently did not meet. The setup would go no further unless I changed it to meet Wyze’s standards. That is their right, but it is also my choice not to do so. Let them recommend the change, but allow an opt out by the user (which they do not)

What standards exactly did they say? I’m doubting that what they told you was actually correct. As long as it meets WPA2 standards it should be fine.
