I have a Wyze Cam OG set up in my living room. I was wondering if there is any way that I could trigger an Alexa routine when the camera detects motion?
I am not sure. It may only allow person detection triggers right now. That’s the only option I see for my OG camera. I could have sworn that motion triggers used to exist though. Maybe I only see person because I have a subscription that supports it though.
The way I get to the person trigger is here:
- Make sure Wyze is linked to Alexa first. Once that is set:
- Open the Alexa app
- Click the 3 lined menu icon at the top left
- Select Routines
- Select the plus sign on the top right
- (it may matter what you pick in the “FOR” tab…some triggers and actions are available for “Home” but not for individual user profiles, etc, so if you can’t find what you need, maybe switch this section)
- Under “When” click the plus sign to add an event.
- select Smart Home
- Find your OG camera and select what trigger is available (motion may not be available, but at least it will answer your question)
- Then you can add a custom action.
I don’t think it’s an option anymore, but that’s how you can check for sure for yourself.
