If you are on the event page and deselect “vehicle” and say “motion” events. The “vehicle” button will disappear. Only way to restore is to go to “wine glass icon” and check the box again for vehicles.
I don’t believe that’s a bug. I think what you’re describing is by design.
If I navigate to the Events page, tap the filter icon, select every one of the “PREMIUM FILTERS” options, and then tap Show Results, then that row of controls on the Events screen fills up with buttons for all those filters. If I deselect any of them and navigate to another screen (e.g., tap Home) and then back to Events, then those deselected filters are no longer occupying space in that row, so there’s less left-right scrolling/swiping for me to do in that area as a user. I believe that’s how it’s supposed to work.
I also think the “wine glass icon” is supposed to represent a funnel to narrow the scope of the results in the events list. Since funnels in chemistry labs are often used in conjunction with filter paper to separate components of a mixture, I think that reinforces the idea for this icon’s use. If I tap that icon and then tap Clear All on the Filters screen, then all of the premium filters buttons (except Person and Faces) disappear on the Events screen for me.

You’re welcome. I think that’s right. It just doesn’t seem buggy to me, though there are certainly things in the app that are bugs, even though I’m not currently using the public beta.
