All of a sudden, our Telephoto OG cams are having trouble picking up vehicles driving by, missing about 50% of the events. Did something change recently within the last 2 weeks?
Wyze cams missing events is nothing new, been an issue ever since V3 were introduced.
Wyze is most likely the most unreliable camera ecosystem available 
Gee thanks so much for your input which helps in no way whatsoever. I have many Wyze cameras, some I have had for years that still do their job. This just started happening after working perfectly.

My understanding is that the “AI” detection model receives periodic updates, not always for the better. A couple of years or so ago, I saw a spate of ”gunshot" detections from my Video Doorbell v2 in my relatively quiet neighborhood, and other users were reporting similar things at the time. That eventually cleared up after a couple of weeks or so.
If you’re experiencing an issue that seems more persistent, then I’d be inclined to review/confirm your app settings for the Cam and then maybe submit an app log and open a ticket (note that these are two separate actions and not the same thing). Otherwise you may just need to wait it out until the model updates again, which is a bit of a mystery.
As @Crease mentioned it could have been a tweak to the “AI”, but also worth checking if there is any bottleneck on your network, do a speed test, make sure your 2.4ghz wifi still has a good signal where the cams are, etc. The recognition requires uploading a photo to the wyze servers (at the same time it is uploading a video) and if that doesn’t happen quickly enough it can’t complete the identification.
May not be your issue at all but worth checking.
Can also try “reset services” on one of them to see if that changes anything, but just note you need to go back into detection/notification settings and put it how you want it after as it puts them back to default.
If you’re able to post a screen shot of one that was not identified, might help see what may be interfering, possibly the angle, amount of light, etc.
As it turns out, a q-tip and some window cleaner solved my issues. The camera image looked perfectly clear but after cleaning the lens the alerts are back to normal. I guess the telephoto versions are more sensitive than the regular versions.
Yeah that narrow recessed lens is prone to everything getting stuck in there. I even had a spider decide to hang out in there once.
But below is a good example of how one snow storm can make a big difference, may not look terribly obvious, but once you clean it, it can make a huge difference.
