I put some dried mealworms in the tray and a mother starling fed her 5 chicks. A little bit later, one of the fledglings was sitting on the edge of the tray as the mother was picking up the mealworms and feeding it. The kid will stay in the basement for the next 5 years.

Since the little brats can fly maybe you should make a little LZ (Landing Zone) sign and put it on the edge of the feeder.

Less than 2 mintues of me putting more mealworms in the tray, the starlings were back. This time the kids were all standing on the tray as mom would pick up the food and drop it directly in their mouths. Talk about lazy!

Mom needs to kick them out and make them learn how to eat on their own.

There was a pair of Finches, not sure if they were purple or house, at the feeder yesterday.
This is a video of the male doing a courtship dance for the female.
She didn’t seem to interested in what he had to say.
She was playing “hard to get”, but they did fly in and out together.
Merlin says they are House Finches.
