I had one of those spring loaded bird feeders back in the day. They work well but I hung it up with a small rope and eventually he figured out how to chew thru the rope and drop the whole thing to the ground. 
So I replaced the rope with a steel cable and that fixed it!

That’s why I hung it with a metal S hook, haha. On the other side I had another Wyze cam and hummingbird feeder. The squirrel chewed the camera cord clean in half. At least I can replace it with a spare since I have a bunch of them because I replaced some with much longer ones.

Maybe a Bear 
will come along and help the squirrel get it open.
