Spotlight stuck on dim

Has anybody with the version 4 camera have their spotlight LED stuck on dim day and night, I’ve tried new cord ,new power brick I have my setting on manual anybody know of a fix it’s just this one camera the other ones are working okay.

Is it just the one LED on the right in your photo? The image and the way you’re describing the issue makes me think it’s a hardware problem. What did Support say when you contacted them?

They just told me to try all the different steps which I did numerous times. I even factory reset the camera with no luck. I also think it’s a hardware issue I just sent them a picture in my email to them.

If you have it set to bright, (or you have it set to dim and you haven’t manually turned it on, or set an automation to turn it on), that would appear to be a hardware problem to me.

That’s good to know about the picture. Hopefully they’ll just replace it for you. :+1:

Another thing to consider - is it completely protected from rain where it is, including the whole length of the cable? It may have gotten water inside especially considering it is mounted upside down. Even if it is covered, windy rain or water running along things as it tends to do can cause what you thought was a totally dry area to not actually be.

If you get a replacement, I would recommend two things:
Put a piece of electrical tape over the setup button and sd card slot (one strip can cover both and is easy to remove when needed). This is a good idea for any cam mounted upside down outdoors. Not just for water, but dust and dirt too. The rubber covers are good, but not perfect, and generally (in my opinion) are only sufficient when the cam is mounted right side up.

Make sure that the wire coming out of the camera immediately goes down toward the ground before looping back up toward the ceiling. That way drops of water won’t track along the cable and into the camera. This is called a drip loop and should be done with basically any outdoor cable before it transitions into a device or into your house (you’ll notice cable TV and other wires from the street will typically have them before entering the house). The notch in the base along with a bit of slack is usually plenty to hold it in a loop shape.

A “stuck on” light certainly can be due to a short or corrosion caused by water, seems quite likely in fact.

Thanks for all the info. I’m going to see if they give me a replacement or a gift card.

I’ve had this V4 spotlight issue since Nov 2024.
