Cameras are working but it says they’re not then cameras stopped working then they start working… Something’s wrong on your guys end again on a weekday morning before having to go to work.

Are you using iOS?

asking because there appeared to be an issue earlier and things are starting to work now.

Android Google pixel

Thanks, I have an Android Pixel 9 Pro. Camera’s are streaming fine, but I don’t have a V3 to test.

@carverofchoice do you have a v3 camera you can check with your Pixel?

Just received right now a notification saying one of my cameras is offline but it isn’t and it hasn’t been I just checked it like 15 minutes ago. V2 camera

My v3s have all been working fine with none of them reporting offline. If it was the Wyze backend, I would expect more widespread reports of this.

My instinct is that the status ping IP address to Google or wherever else is being blocked by the ISP or a firewall or something, but not the connection to the Wyze server itself. When the status ping to an outside high availability server gets blocked, the device and server gets a status that the device is offline even when it actually isn’t offline. This would explain why the camera sends a message that the camera is offline (the status ping is being blocked), but the camera still works and connects because the connection to the Wyze server still works.

I’ve seen this before. It’s extremely likely this is what’s happening. Could be the DNS has some filters setup, could be a firewall blocking certain things, including subscribed to automatic crowd sourced block lists where some user submitted the domain or IP address that was used as an outside high availability status ping, and automatically updated the router to block it even if the user themselves didn’t make any changes. Could be using something like pihole. There are a number of causes to things like this, but the outcome indicates the external ping is being blocked (thus reporting off-line), but the internal connection to Wyze is functional, so the camera still works/connects just fine.

My cameras aren’t reporting offline because the status ping isn’t being blocked or failing, together with also connecting to the Wyze servers just fine. Pretty sure it’s not the Wyze back end in this particular case or we’d have a lot more similar reports. I’d go through the router settings related to firewalls and block lists and see what might be related.
