Smart Thermostat Offline

I appreciate you typing it one more time,I’m sure that was hard work.this happens to be my first time on this,so I’m sorry I didn’t see your many other posts about this exact thing.im just switching my thermostat anyways to another brand so no worries.

Im done defending this company. I am so over everything time i go in to the app to look at a camera alert or something, I automatically expect to have some problem that will cause a delay to me discovering if I have an intruder or something. If thier tecnical staff were actually any good at what they do, beta testing this stuff would be ok but they are not. This platform is built on incompetence and poor skill. Then they pull this crap with the thermostat. Done, I went with Huneywell X8s. Looking at what cameras and sprinkler controller i will go with. Maybe wyze will get better one day if they don’t run off all of their customers and go out of business.

I hope that Wyze is paying attention to this thread and watching their customers drop away one by one because they can’t get it together and get their stuff working right… For some this was their first rodeo with Wyze and they want no more, and for others it was the last straw. PAY ATTENTION Wyze and start interacting with and paying attention to your customers. With the active NWS Extreme Heat Advisory, this may literally be life and death for some customers with a non functional thermostat and HVAC system. Perhaps a visual is needed…

@electro has reported that a workaround is to add the Thermostat to Google Home … I tried it and it works!

We are aware of the issue, I have posted in many threads about this issue that we have found the root cause and are working on the fix.

This is a private company backed by VC’s. I am really surprised about the slow response in regards to customers complaining about the thermostat. It is a big problem in high heat/humidity regions. Also this thermostat was sold in HD, Lowes and of course Amazon. ALL off this behemoth companies should be backing up the products sold by them. Eh well… Low margins means low margins :winking_face_with_tongue:. Too bad, I really tried to like this company from the beginning, suffering through growth and SD cards killed, etc … But the last straw is in and I see a lot of angry people AKA customers.

No worries. Godspeed. Hope the other brand works better. I was gonna go the same direction but ended up finding an old Android phone that ended up being able to at least set it up and get it working on the thermostat itself. Unfortunately the app still is broken for me. SMDH. Slowly gonna start replacing all the Wyze things.

I did the factory reset like the directions stated. It powered back up to the Wyze logo and will not go any further. I have reset it several time with the same result. I have read that it is likely now junk. I wanted to just buy a replacement but discovered they are no longer available. So, being SOL with Wyze once again, it was the last straw that sent me to the Honeywell X8s. That thing is cool. I will be replacing my cameras as well once I discover what I want. No more paying for beta testing with the Wyze tech morons. Going with a real company who has their stuff figured out and can solve and even prevent problems so I don’t have to while I am paying for it.

Please share, what seems to be the problem and how come it is not fixed yet?

Because, as I said, they are working on the fix. I am not an engineer, so I do not know what the root cause is, just that they have found it.

We appreciate the updates, Jason and it’s not anger or frustration towards you directly, but rather the lack of transparency from Wyze as a whole. A truly successful and customer forward company will provide any info they have even if it doesn’t make the process any faster. Knowing why it’s happening while the fix is being worked on goes miles and can prevent customers from jumping ship and costing the company their bottom line.

They should be firstly be informing you as you’re the front line to us here. They should absolutely be releasing info and statements to us costumers of what the issue is and that is being worked on, not simply we’ve found the cause and it will be fixed. Willing to bet most here didn’t catch the latest app version (3.23.0.989) has NOTHING in the release notes when they almost always at the least put the generic bug fixes, etc… None of that, it was blank! Not even a blurb stating it was a hot fix for the thermostat issue. Seriously, Wyze?? Like they aren’t even trying! And why was another update pushed out clearly UNtested when they had just released the hot fix what WORKED!? These are questions they world be answering to us customers.

And Wyze reps here should be taking this info and frustrations back to corporate as I’m sure they are oblivious other than maybe they had some support tickets open. Google yourselves, see what people are saying and thinking and see what’s just noise and what you can actually grow on and implement.

I do understand it is not directed at me, I am just the middleman. I too am affected by the issue as my Thermostat is offline. I do relay any info I get over to the users, there are just many times I do not have the info you are looking for.

The questions you brought up are things both me and others are asking internally (to corporate also), I may not get the answers all the time, but I do relay the frustration and questions over to them…many times taking screenshots of exactly what the users are saying.

Edit: I was unaware up until now that that release was issued without even saying Bug Fixes at minimum. I will be having a talk to them about that also.

I have the same issue with being off line and not able to add back to the app. I have Android version 15. All other devices work. I can see the thermostat is getting an IP. I CAN NOT add the device back nor can I delete the old/ existing Thermostat. Waiting on a fix from #wyze. All other items working on the app. Btw I could operate the thermostat from Alexa before I reset it. Great advice from customer service. Frustrated in the response from customer service.

When is a fix expected, Effectively a dead thermostat and its getting cold!!

Btw I have Android 15 version. This off line issue just stated this past week.

I cant see my network as well. Although the thermostat has an Ip address.

Hope fix comes soon.

I can confirm that Android 12 is working. I do not hear any chatter from IOS people. Looks like is an Android issue starting with version 13. Below 13 is working.

Someone tell me how this works, I am not very technical. My phone shows offline. I uninstall the app reinstall it and it show back online one time, go back in and it is offline again. My wife has the same phone on the same android 16 and it works on hers.

Likely your wife’s phone has NOT been updated to v3.23.

ASAP you should turn off automatic app updates, open the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, go to Settings > Network preferences > Auto-update apps, and select Don’t auto-update apps.

EDIT: DO NOT FACTORY RESET YOUR THERMOSTAT.

I tried installing previous versions 3.22.0.973 and 3.22.1.979 from APKMirror. In both versions clicking on the thermostat did nothing - didn’t even display the Device Offline screen.

I found that my wife’s phone was still on 3.22.1.979. I used AppChecker (kroegerama) to extract the apk files, copied them to my phone and then used SAI (MTV Mobile) to install. I am back up and running on 3.22.1.979.

Google Auto Updates are TURNED OFF on both phones. I 've kept the apk files as backup for the next WYZE App screwup.

Same here. Have 12+ wyze devices. Two thermostats and cam v2 all now bricked this week. No remedy on them at all, wyze stopped updating the firmware and they are now toast. No more wyze for me.

UPDATE: I can control one of thethermostats from both Alexa and thru wyze app installed on a tablet running older versions of Android and Wyze. The 2nd thermostat is bricked after deleting it, powering it off and trying to reinstall. FWIW I bought and installed an Amazon thermostat to replace the one brick, and I like it fine for $57 especially since I can trust Amazon to not leave me inoperable.

Amen to everything you just said. I tried so hard to like this company but I’ve grown weary of the masochistic rituals necessary to constantly reconnect their products and keep them working properly.
