Back in March there was discussion about slow loading of multiple cameras. I have about 10 cams each in two locations, a mix of models. The suggestion at that time was to wait for a firmware and app update with an upcoming bug fix, which sure enough materialized shortly thereafter, and the situation was much improved, to the point of being very acceptable.
But the latest app update has brought me back to where I was before that bug fix - very slow loading, sometimes no loading at all of some of the cams.
No I didn’t have those issues. Never have issues at the scale most people describe here.
I am an I.T. guy though so I’ve made sure my home network is scaled out correctly which I believe is the solution to all home network issues. If you have good Mesh Wifi (something made in the last 2 years) with enough nodes to not only get coverage to the edges of your area but also, nodes that can handle the amount of devices on your network, you will not see network issues unless your AP’s are acting weird. I use 2 nodes for my devices that covers a 1600 sq ft house.
My cameras pop up with no issue no matter where I’m at. I was most recently on vacation and had the Wyze Leak sensor catch a leak on my furnace drip tray while I was away. That’s twice those things have saved me. Worth every penny.
The only time my cameras act weird is if there is a Amazon Cloud issue (AWS) where the events or automations are not running correctly or my home internet is acting strange. The cameras themselves work great. The app works too. It’s not my cup of tea in terms of design but.
I just took a camera with me on vacation to watch outside a house I was staying at. Trying to catch any animals going by. Joined the camera to the house WiFi, and would check on from time to time while out. No issues. Popped right up. Just like at my house.
My cell phone is a Pixel 8a. I am signed up on the Beta Android program so I have Android 17, +1 premium Beta 6 or something. I’ve lost track of the OS version. But, no crazy processing or high-end phone.
OK thanks. Here’s the thread where I first posted about the issue back in March, specifically asking if I need to tweak my wifi setup somehow, and was told no, it was a known issue and I should wait for the bug fix that was coming shortly. That bug fix did come, and everything worked great. But then this latest app update came out and it’s back like it was before.
I read your March post … I had a similar problem with my OG’s loading slowly.
I have 2 locations:
Location 1 is urban - fiber internet with low latency (< 9ms Ping) has 1 OG camera.
Location 2 is rural - LTE internet with high latency (>20ms Ping) has 4 OG cameras.
The 1 OG camera at the urban location loads fast (1 sec) no matter where I am and my android phone can be on mobile 5G or Wi-Fi.
Like you I have the 4 rural cameras assigned to a group.
For the longest time they took a long time to load whether I viewed individual cams (stuck on “Step 3 - Loading the Video Feed”) or used the Group View or Monitoring View (stuck on “Loading Live Stream”).
My workaround if “Loading” was displayed for more than 5 seconds was tokill the WYZE App (swipe up on the Recent Apps screen). After opening the WYZE App again, the 4 cameras displayed in 2-3 sec.
There was an App update a couple of months ago that appears to have fixed the “Loading” issue for my OG’s.
My conclusion was that the “Loading” issue was related to the high latency internet at my rural location … however, I have mentioned this latency issue in other posts and others have disagreed.
It’s possible that the underlying cause of your issue is the high latency of the ADSL and Starlink internet services, so changing/upgrading Wi-Fi won’t help.
Try the workaround … maybe it will help you until the App is updated (again) for your V3’s and V4’s.
Note that “kill the WYZE App (swipe up on the Recent Apps screen)” is different to what you said you tried - “backing out of the app, restarting it”.
