Setup A Bit Confusing

I bought one WYZE camera to test whether or not to replace my lame Blink cameras. Setup was pretty straightforward until I got to the QR code. When you say, “Point your camera at this code”, my first thought was “How? I’m using my iPhone for setup!” I would suggest in your setup instructions to, “Point this QR code toward your new WYZE camera and make sure it can see the entire code.”

I tried several times to use my iPhone to read the code, and, of course, it gave me a Google error. Once I figured it out my error, it was easy. BTW, my test proves the change to WYZE is a good one.

Yeah the QR code is on the phone screen and you have to get the correct distance from the camera. Another issue some people have is if the display setting on the phone is set to Large instead of Default (Smaller) the the entire QR code can’t be read. Glad you got it figured out, enjoy your cam and welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the Forum, @schneb!

For whatever it’s worth, newer camera models use Bluetooth during setup to get your Cam connected to your home Wi-Fi. I think your Cam Pan v3 might’ve been one of the last models to use QR code scanning for setup (I believe Video Doorbell v2 was the last doorbell model to do this), and Cam Floodlight v2 uses access point pairing, similar to how pairing a Plug works. Knowing that might make things a little easier in the future if you’re looking to replace other Blink devices.

Oh, once I figured out the code was not for my iPhone to see, but rather the actual Pan V3, it was smooth sailing from there.
