Robin's Nest

I have a Robin’s next on the beam under my deck so I stuck a Wyze Cam up there to watch the babies grow.

I am amazed at nature. The chick lifts its butt, poops and it comes out in a little baggie so mom can take it out of the nest. At least that is what hope she is doing with it in this video. A bluebird removes the baggie. The robin, not so sure.

I wondered what was going on there. I don’t recall ever seeing that before, so it seemed odd to me.

Mama Robin took food out of the nest and just swallowed it. I expected to see her give it to the other baby.

No, that was NOT food. Two of the chicks pooped and mama took it away from the nest.

Oh interesting. I never thought about that before, but it totally makes sense. I learned something new today.

I’m definitely not going to clean up my little one’s messy diapers this way though. (never been more happy to not be a bird)

It’d be a solid Wyzies entry if you did, though!

The first time I changed our newborn’s diaper, I just pulled the tabs like I was opening a bag of chips. I didn’t except to be hit in the face with little rabbit turds.

That’s another way of saying, mamma ate the poop

Rabbit turds? Mine looked like a bottle of mustard had exploded

That was later when he was teething. I carried him at arms length through a store, with him dripping diarrhea. My wife was cleaning as we went. It was in his socks too.

Sometimes they eat it :face_vomiting: its hard to watch.

That have no taste buds so everything must “taste” like worms to them

My taste buds were violently reacting to the thought of it.
