Replacing WCO due to not charging. Batt Cam Pro or Dual Cam Pan?

I have a WCO that has been mounted to my garage eave for the past couple of years running off a solar panel. I noticed it wont charge anymore. The lightning bolt is on with the panel but over the past week its gotten down to 8% and wont go back up. I pulled it and connected it in the house to see if it was my panel but the same results.

Im going to have to replace it but im torn between the Battery Cam Pro or the new Dual Cam Pan. I will have it mounted from the top corner of the eave so i know if i go Batt Cam Pro, i can use the extended mount. I made a metal bracket that slides between the soffit so the WCO mounted with the magnetic base without me having to screw into the soffit. Any thoughts on the 2 cams from your personal usage? I know the Dual Cam Pan is new so prob not a lot of InSite on that one yet. I dont see an WCO on the site anymore to go with so i guess in time, i will need to replace the other 2 i have as well.

First off: the Duo Cam Pan is NOT battery powered. So, if you cannot get power to the location, it’s a no-go.

If you go with the WBC Pro, you can use the same solar panel you were using with the WCO.

Bottom line is if you have power, get the new Duo Cam Pan. Otherwise, the WBC Pro is a good choice.

The battery cam pro if you are willing to install a solar panel. I have had 2 with solar panels in use for quite some time. I also have 1 wired where the extension flat wire runs thru a nearby window to an inside outlet. The solar powered bcp’s need the batteries installed, the wired bcp does not. The dependency is on your flexibility and location of the power source, especially for the duo cam pan.

FYI - The battery cam pro does not get good reviews for longevity of battery only operation, far short of the 6 months advertised.

BTW - If your base station is still functioning, you can find a WCO on eBay and Amazon. It works for both WCO v1 and v2.

I do have the solar panel so I may go the Battery Cam Pro. Looks like it’s close to the same price as another WCO on eBay and maybe thr Labor Day sale will help. I like the Duo cam but they don’t have the option for a solar panel it appears or at least I can’t see how the port is made to connect a part wl

If the solar panel is the Wyze panel for the WCO, it may not produce the power needed for the BCP and could require charging the battery occasionally. I got my panels from Amazon and so far after more than a year, batteries still register as 100% charged. Make sure the battery is fully charged before transitioning to the solar panel.

It is the panel for the WCO. I wonder if anyone can confirm it’s a different panel? I may just do the combo deal on their next sell and get the BCP and panel and transition the current panel to another cam. I have 2 more WCO that I just charge as they aren’t as hard to get to but I expect in time they will die as well and need to be upgraded

I recommend getting a panel that is 5W(watts) 5VDC(volts direct current). The Wyze panel is 2.5W/5VDC and can sustain a charge but mixed reviews on charging if the battery’s power drops below a certain percentage. Good luck!

Do you have a recommended panel or is the newer version of the Wyze panel up to par. Let me find the specs on their current panel

Wyze has only 1 panel listed in it’s SHOP and you can click on it and view the specs. 2.5w - 5vdc. Amazon has a substantial listing of panels, many compatible with Wyze Battery Cams and come with usb connection adapters. Many 2 packs for the price of a single Wyze panel.

Thanks. I see new product day is coming along with a possible Labor Day sale so I’m going to see what pops up soon

Hoping that sales between labor day and black Friday will be good enough for me to replace a couple cam pan v3’s or get a couple new duo cam pans.

Agreed. Looks like this will be the year to update a few. I had an OG cam go dead in less than 2yrs so that def won’t be purchased again.

Basic Solar panel from Wyze works fine on BCP.

I have it on a bird feeder with a ton of events during the day. Keeps up just fine.

You don’t need a newer panel. You will need the micro-USB adapter to USB-C to plug on the BCP though. Extra cable that came with it.

Get one off Amazon if you didn’t have one.
