I take out the sd card and use Windows 10 Video editor. Each of the saved files is about 60 seconds long. Start playing it and put the mouse pointer on the moving dot and you can zip right through each one as fast as you want. you can also edit the video, to shorten it, add comments, and then make a video of several of the individual 60 second clips, You can even add music. The individual files are stored in the sequence they were recorded. File are stored in date, then a new directory for each hour in the day and then all the videos in each hour. So its easy to drill down closely to times of interest. I managed to search and find an at risk person driving out of the apartment garage for a care giver in about 10 minuets of searching.

When I playback from SD it does jump ahead to the next recorded event. If there are no more events, it stops and states that. Occasionally it will hang at the end of a recording, but not very often. But there is no ‘fast forward’ during playback, if that is what you are asking.

I understand Wyze needs to minimize the data transferred to keep server costs down. Perhaps as a compromise the cameras could still track motion events during the cool-down period and send just the times to the server. These events would not have any attached video and should be of insignificant size. The app could show the event and the app could connect to the camera for display of stored video.
Actually, after thinking about it, I would actually like the option of doing this for all the events on an internal camera so that the video would NEVER be sent offsite. I would like to keep the video local only as a security option.

I agree with part of what he is saying. Y does it take 6 minutes to get a notification. I mean yea it records and I can go back and watch the footage but I bought these so I would know when someone pulled in before they got to my door. The pizza man comes and goes and I get the notification minutes after he leaves. When I got my first camera 2 years ago it was much faster. 15 seconds tops. I’m not talkin about the cool down time but the time it takes to get a notification on my phone that motion was detected

We should be processing the AI locally then only Recorded events need to be uploaded for archival. Video AI is too slow to upload and then Process. Add a small FOGnet server to process your own video, Facial recognition, License plate readers and object Recognition notification is then in real-time. Use Free Yolo with Darknet or Tensorflow lite . For security, you need the alerts to go off lock doors etc before there’s an incident. Wyze needs a tutorial with Cams as it looks like no one is Recognizing people with guns in real-time like Casinos, the Government or NRA does. Real-time threat assessment needs to happen locally not in the cloud. Cloud should only be used for archieving.

I understand your upset with a neighbor who creates fear and terror. IMHO IF I were safegurading against the described neighbor I would certainly not rely on a $25 camera. Again in my opinion the problem you describe could be your internet connection, distance, pacement of the camera. That said. . .
Absolutely spend as much money as necessary to get exactly the services, coverage and quality your needs dictate. I’d spend the money on a system provider with armed responce or at least a panic button direct to the police (while the camera records the event). But I value my life at a bit more than $25.
Most of us find Wyze provides great value in a small form factor. In fact one must spend upwards of $100 to get a better camera. Whats more the few times I contacted Wyze -they were very helpful helping me solve my issue.

jesuseverett you did notice the $19.99 price on the WYZE CAM V2 and $29.99 on the Wyze Cam Pan?? Did you notice that nowhere on their promotional material does it state that you are purchasing a security system meant to protect you from alcoholics and drug addicts??
Now let you me help you price a system like that. My security system from 15 years ago cost me about $1,000. Then I spend $30 a month which crept up to $55 a month for monitoring services. All in all I was spending about $700 a year for security/peace of mind on top of my initial $1,000 investment. I tossed that all out the window. I bought 3 CAM V2’s, 3 CAM PANS and a Smart security system which I installed myself for about $300.
For a total investment of less than $500 I have sensors on every door and window to my home. I am able to arm and disarm from anywhere in the world. I have video intercoms at the 3 entrances to my house. I get a notification when a mouse gets on my back porch. I can get full-time monitoring for “any time for $1.49 per Wyze Cam per month.”
You say, “wyze cam owes this community FREE full-motion recordings”. I respectfully disagree.
Keep in mind Wyze is a business. It’s not a person. It owes you nothing but what it said it would deliver for your investment. I have seen them do nothing but do everything in their power to do just that and more.
Sir you just may be expecting too much for your $19.99 investment. I could always use another camera. Ping me and I’ll pay you what you paid for it. I for one could not be any happier with the value I get from my $150 investment for 6 HD video cameras with night vision, onboard recording, intercom capable with no service fees and free 12 sec cloud event storage. Maybe I’m just too easy to please. Hey that’s just me.

Unless they steal the camera too. Then you lose a $50 instead of $25 and still potentially no cloud footage of the incident.

Why you so triggered Bro? Over a million customers and I don’t see too many complaining. Put a SD card in it and you can watch exactly what happens between those 5 minute periods. It’s cheap, you can get a 32GB card for $10, and it will solve your problem. Either that or move into a better neighbourhood.

I have an SD card in all of my cameras and over half of them do NOT record continuously. I use them both at a business and home and bought them because if the MaxDrive that they were coming out with last year. Never happened so now nhi ot sure what to do. I have Ring, Arlo and Nest at my home also for security, but wanted something that recorded all the time at my business. I am a little disappointed they gave up on the MaxDrive. Looks like a more expensive system for business.
I do agree that they are not for security and that’s not why I bought them.

I think you guys r taking this the wrong way. I don’t have them for security I just use them to kno when someone pulls in the drive. My security is a little more bang. All I’m sayin is the notifications came threw faster wen they detected motion than now. I have Wyze plugs on my garage door openers with a relay so I can open my garage doors with my Wyze app so I would see someone like my mom pull in and open the door. But for some reason wen someone pulls in it takes several minutes for my phone to get the notification and not because of the cool down time it could be the first motion it sees all day and it still takes 7 minutes from wen someone pulls in till I get the notification

If you have the phone unlocked and the app open does it still take 7 min for the notification to pop up or is it pretty much instant? I feel like some delayed notifications are a result of a phones power saving features.

I have seen a few reports of delayed notifications lately. Please submit at Support Request. If you do that from within the app, you can include a log. It would be best to include the log just after the delayed notification comes in. If you don’t get a good response from the ticket, post the ticket number here and we can try to get more eyes on it.

If you dont update the firmware you can keep person detection. I guess it might be too late for you now if you already update the firmware. Also have you tried using an SD card? That way it can always record.
I’m sure there’s a nugget or two of value in there, but I don’t have enough time to mine for it, so I’ll pass.

I just tested mine, with my phone awake, not asleep. The door contact notification was essentially instant, maybe 1 second delay. But the camera outside the door took around 30 seconds to notify me. In the past, that used to be nearly-instant as well, maybe a 2 or 3 second delay. But for a few months now, it’s been around 30 seconds before the notification arrives. Not nearly as bad as a delay of several minutes, but still, 30 seconds isn’t nearly as good as 3 seconds.
