Attacker probably watched all the NYC news stories of random stabbers and decided to try it out. Crazy people everywhere.
My first thoughts went to drugs (especially given the area) and mental illness as potential factors in the incident. That was horrifying.
I asked ChatGPT why people resort to brandishing a gun because they didn’t get extra sauce at McDonald’s they asked for. Seems a lot of them are at the breaking point and that put them over the edge. Mental illness, alcoholism, and illegal drug use are also factors. If I didn’t get extra sauce I would either go home and eat in quiet, or would go in and ask for more. But then, I’m not mentally unstable (unless you ask @Antonius )
