Put a push to talk button in the app for two way comms with the cameras

I have two cam pan V3s and if I click on to talk back and forth with someone I get an echo through the mic. I have to mute my mic so that it stops otherwise it gets louder and doesn’t stop.

This may or may not be an issue with my phone because if I use my earbuds it stops but it does not happen with any other intercom type conversations.

Either way a push to talk button in the app on the camera you are viewing would be perfect. Having to keep your finger on the button to talk will help sound feedback issues a great deal, even if it is an issue with some phones.

To clarify: I am requesting a “push to talk” button in the app where it activates the microphone as long as your finger is on the button, but when you remove your finger it shuts off the mic. This way it can help reduce the amount of feedback some phones get.

I never used it, but I thought that’s what the microphone icon is for? You can leave it on.

I think the request is for a press-and-hold control to activate the microphone rather than the current toggle. SimpliSafe’s SimpliCams operate this way.

I think the OP is requesting a push to talk button to prevent a feedback loop issue. When you press/enable to mic icon on CPv3, the app also automatically enables the speaker icon. And vice versa… disabling the mic also disables the speaker icon. That is really frustrating. Some Wyze cams have a push to talk icon and it is independent from the speaker icon. I don’t remember which models though.

Yes, this. I will edit the post so it is more clear,

EDIT: I can’t edit the post, maybe to much time has passed since I originally posted it…..

That’s my understanding. Even if you can’t edit your initial post, you still probably want to tap or click the Vote button above that post in order to register a vote for your request.

I just unlocked your original Post if you would like to update it

This is the main problem they need to solve.

Yes, V2 cameras are one of them though it drives me nuts to use it. It often ends up cutting off part of what I was trying to say and confusing people. It also disables the sound coming into my phone when I press it, so if someone tries to talk at the same time as me, I miss everything they were saying. That is also frustrating.

I think a good solution is to simply fix the current UI so toggling off the Microphone doesn’t toggle off the speaker. They could also add a separate setting to allow people to use push to talk instead. I personally have tried push to talk on the V2s and I can’t stand it, so I wouldn’t want it to be forced to be used on every camera, because I tried it and found it doesn’t work as well as well as the always on method. However, I respect that everyone has different preferences and different options may also be better in different situations, so I am supportive of a setting/option enabling this for those who would prefer it.
