Forum - Alexa Person Detection Triggers on some Wyze Cam v3s with Cam Plus Lite have disappeared for new activations for some users. They are still present for some people or those who previously set them up

This one should now be resolved! We found the issue with the Alexa team. However, you’ll need to discover the device again to refresh it. If you have trouble with this after following these instructions, please let us know! Otherwise, we’ll be removing it from our update list next week.

This was not true for me. I just visited Cameras in the Alexa app and the same long-suffering test V3 now shows a working “Person Detection Notifications” toggle under settings. (Edit: this camera has been online and unused throughout, since my last round of tests a month or two ago.) Hurray!

This is is going to solve lot of weird and frustrating integration issues for users. For me it means I can finally replace my trusty main front facing V2 cameras with these nifty night vision V3s (assuming my long power cables don’t bite me).

I never had an issue with V3 cams. It was always V2.

Thanks @carverofchoice. TLDR; I still have three V2 cams that show “Person detection is currently unavailable. Please check your Wyze app to learn more.”. I’ve never had an issue with PD in Alexa with V3 cameras. I have three. Person announcement has always shown as available. I re-discovered Wyze to Alexa. In my case I had no choice. When I tried to view a Wyze cam Alexa went to discovering Wyze. I had previously set up routines for a couple of V2 cams to announce “Someone is at the” [Back …

Thanks. I put a reminder bookmark to check up on this. I want to give Jason a little bit of time to look into it & report back to the appropriate team that there appear to be lingering related issues (he does read and relay the responses to the Fix it Friday reports).

Also, if anyone else can confirm V2 Alexa PD issues with CPLite, please say so. It is helpful to be able to show them when something isn’t an isolated incident.

I’m glad things are improved, but let’s get the related stuff cleared up too.

Technically none of this actually affects me since I have Cam Plus Unlimited, but I’m happy to help out anyone who is experiencing obvious bugs that need to be resolved.

I can confirm there are issues with Alexa. I have CamPlus Lite, V2 and V3 cameras. I can enable notification in Alexa, even setup routines, but never get ANY notifications. The log for the routines show no activity, indicating that the person detection never gets to Alexa.

Interesting. Must be a bug in the skill integration.

At this point I would probably suggest waiting until Alexa+ is fully rolled out first. I’ve been reading about a lot of Alexa skills breakages lately, so I assume they’re doing things with their API

Ah, so it could be the Alexa skills breakages I’ve been reading about for lots of companies. Keep an eye on it. Amazon is really late launching Alexa+ on their original announced timeline. I even signed up for early access, but so far nobody can find anyone besides employees who have it despite Amazon swearing hundreds of thousands have it already and there’s no NDA preventing them talking about it.

So all my cameras are now working with Alexa’s person detection announcements. I didn’t change anything so must assume it’s something between Wyze and Amazon.
