Respectfully, we, fellow Wyze users, don’t care about your threat to go with Ubiquiti cams. No money in or out of our pockets. 7 day notice? Seriously?
Note that Ubiquiti cams are proprietary and you’ll need their NVR/controller. As far as I know Wyze RTSP won’t work with Ubiquiti’s NVRs as Ubiquiti requires 3rd party cams to support ONVIF, so if that’s what you were hoping for, you might as well not even wait 7 days.
Thank you for your perspective., although you fail to acknowledge that Wyze allowed RTSP in V3 and prior. Not to mention they said they would release firmeare update by end of January, 2026.
I didn’t fail to acknowledge it, it has nothing to do with anything. They stopped supporting RTSP in the v3 years ago and have only just now brought it back. Where did they say they were guaranteeing RTSP on the v4 in January?
I would recommend buying things that have the features you want already, not that are expected to have them at some point. If you can afford the Ubiquiti setup, it is quite nice, although it is proprietary so you have to stay within their ecosystem. I considered upgrading my UCG Ultra to the Max so I could use NVR with the Wyze cams, but since they don’t support ONVIF, it wouldn’t work without an intermediary program, defeating the purpose. Since my cams are mostly for hobby and convenience, the cost of the Ubiquiti cams (and upgrading router and adding SSD) isn’t worth it to me. But for others it can be quite a nice setup.
Let’s be honest, at the price point of the Wyze cams, I can see why they got rid of RTSP (to encourage subscription adoption), and I’m actually a bit surprised they’re bringing it back. I suppose they’ve realized that letting people stream them on their LAN actually costs them less in bandwidth than using Web View all day or using 3rd party solutions that may stream through their servers. Those bandwidth costs add up quick.
