Pan Cam V4 Disappointment

From what I remember, parked vehicle events were always flagged. After people complained, Wyze somehow adjusted something and those parked car events subsided. Then, at some point, it started again. I don’t know, maybe they are still tinkering with the logic and that’s what you’re seeing now.

And here I got excited over nothing. I opened my app today and found a new firmware version (4.70.0.2507) for the Cam Pan V4. I thought this might be the one. Sadly I think it made things worse. The live feed is even more chunky. You can watch the clock, 47,48,50,52,55. I also feel like the movement of the camera is more delayed. Will there ever be a fix?

Anyone else having an issue with the spotlight on the Pan Cam V4 automatically dimming after about 5 minutes?

no bc they abandoned TUKT which is what made them great in favor of forcing you through their cloud vs local rtsp or other protocols

I got around this strange as it seems by enabling smart tracking.

It tracks people and pets quite well, and makes events for vehicles, but just doesn’t chase them.

I’m on. 2417 firmware, looking for feedback on 2507 before I update

Too many people are waiting for feedback, scared of bricking their cameras. :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:

That’s not my concern with this particular update. I tend to wait a week or so with all Wyze firmware updates, but with this particular version I haven’t seen any indication that it’s a production release aside from what the production app is showing me.

I waited a few days, and today I took a chance and updated to 2507, especially since they hadn’t pulled it. The live feed does seem to freeze more often. It will freeze for about 2-6 seconds at a time. And it does this every couple of seconds.

Okay, now I’m seeing it listed on the Release Notes & Firmware page. Apparently that was released from beta to production without an announcement in Wyze News, which I’ve seen happen occasionally. I might go ahead and try it this week to see if it has any effect on the spontaneous reboots I occasionally see with this thing.

I bought two and it keeps doing the same. Device offline. My router is close to it. Plus it’s in the same location I had the cam v3. Which makes zero sense to why it’s saying this.

Maybe your network can’t handle the higher resolution of this cameras. Drop the resolution and see if it helps.

I have the new duo camera and it works just fine the only two cameras right not currently working are the new pan v4.

Are you using the stock USB cable and power adapter that came with the pan V4? In one instance, I think, they unintentionally used the incorrect adapter, which was rated lower.

I’m having the same issue as of October 16th 2025. Such a big disappointment they should know better I’m taking all four of them back and go with version 3 because they connect very well

There’s a new firmware out for the pan V4; the home button is now optional, and mine has been connecting reliably even before this firmware upgrade.

You need to update the app as well.

I’ve had the Pan V4 since it launched in late August. Been bedeviled from the start with it going offline, frequently then not being able to reconnect (error 3005). Takes a power cycle to bring it back online again. Seemed to be somewhat better after the .2595 software was installed, but the problem definitely persists.

I have it plugged into a Wyze Lamp Socket V1. Just read here today that there’s a difference in wattage and amperage on the V2 Lamp Socket. Perhaps that’s the problem? Can anyone confirm? In the meantime, I think I’ll connect that camera up to conventional power for a few days and see if there’s any change in behavior.

I think that’s the problem, or at least part of it, and you’re not the first user to have Cam Pan v4 problems because you’re using an under-powered power supply.[1][2] Lamp Socket v2’s USB port is rated for 5V ⎓ 2A output, which is what Cam Pan v4 expects to see. Lamp Socket v1’s power output is 5V ⎓ 1A. See the comparison chart.

I hope that you have better results with “conventional power” and that you’re using a power supply with the appropriate amperage! :+1:

Yes, now my Pan V4 disconnects are gone! I’ll have to order-up a V2 Lamp Socket. My mistook. Never perceived there to be a difference in amperage on these between the V1 and V2 Lamp Sockets. And for that matter, didn’t know about there being different power supplies for the Pan Cam V3 and Pan Cam V4 cameras. Wyze should have made a visual difference of some sort on these power supplies, like they did on the V2 Lamp Socket with the yellow USB cover.

To add a bit of color to my situation, I moved into a new house last year and setup a Mesh WiFi 7 system. Been wanting to run some backhaul lines between the nodes, and was assuming my disconnects were a WiFi problem. I had previously had a Pan V3 in the same position, and I was getting disconnects on it too, but much less frequently than the Pan V4.

This is the only way to spot the difference between a standard WyzeCam Power Supply 1.0 amp (1000 mA) and the 2.0 amp (2000 mA) supply used on the Pan V3 and Pan V4 cameras. I can hardly read it, even with my readers on! Think I’m going to label mine to make it more obvious.

Do you mean pan cam V4? Because V3 and V4 power adapters have the same amperage. I replaced a V3 with a V4, using the same USB cable and adapter.

There aren’t, at least not if you’re talking about regular (non-Pan) Cam v3 and regular (non-Pan) Cam v4. I happened to post this to another topic earlier today, so maybe it will help here:

Model Power Adapter
Duo Cam Pan[1] 5V ⎓ 1.5A
Cam Pan v4[2], Cam Pan v3[3] 5V ⎓ 2A
Cam v4[4], Cam v3[5], Cam OG[6] 5V ⎓ 1A

That’s a good idea. I know a lot of users tend to just swap out Cams and/or cables when replacing one Wyze Cam with another and just continue using existing power adapters, but this doesn’t always work out well (as the table should illustrate). I tend to swap everything and use the power adapter that came with a specific Cam, especially while that device is still under warranty. If I do remove a power adapter and/or cable to use something else for power (Lamp Socket, longer third-party USB cable), then that’s when I label things so that I know which Cam they were originally delivered with, just in case there’s a problem and I have to go back to that equipment for troubleshooting.

Thank you for taking the time to report back on this! :+1:
