Pan Cam V2 firmware auto-updated by itself tonight

This evening, my Pan Cam V2 rebooted twice in 5 minutes, and auto-updated to the latest firmware version 4.49.14.3137 that was released on 4/16/2025. I have an SD card in all cameras, and I checked the SD card recordings, and there is an exact 1 minute gap at exactly 6:38pm, and then an exact 3 minute gap at exactly 6:40pm, which are the 2 times that it rebooted.

I have one Pan Cam V2, and multiple of each of the following camera types: V2, V3, V4, OG, and Pan Cam V3, and only the V3 has a firmware auto-update option, which I long ago turned off.

The latest firmware contains the “Security Update Wyze SightSafe” feature.

The firmware update worked, but I’m not sure why it rebooted twice with exactly 1 minute of live online time between reboots.

There is no firmware auto-update option for the Pan Cam V2, but it auto-updated tonight anyway.

I generally wait a while before updating the firmware on my devices. It seems to still be working properly, but it is concerning that it auto-updated without my permission. There is nothing that says that this firmware update is mandatory, that will be forced out to our cameras.

Has anyone else had a firmware update forced to a camera, on the Pan Cam V2, or any other camera lately?

Will firmware updates be forced out to my other cameras, even those that have an auto-update option that I have turned off?

I believe they’ve forced a few from time to time when the camera will stop working without the security update. They update their encryption or security and the camera needs to be able to communicate. If you get too far behind or wait too long, I think they have to force it so you won’t lose connectivity. I believe this happened with the v3 last year too.
