Outdoor cam does not.record any events

Hi all, new member here. Our outdoor cam worked well for years but hasn’t for months now. It does not record events despite all settings being correct. Also, we are unable to change the sensitivity settings. They appear to change, but when I exit the window and then go back, nothing has changed. Both the cam and base station firmware are up to date and we reluctantly became Cam Plus subscribers, no change there either. (It previously worked with no paid subscription.) Any ideas before I toss out this brick? TIA.

Have you tried deleting the app and downloading fresh copy?

@PDSF What does the camera battery % show? Is event recording turned on and did you select smart detections or all motion? Since you say you have cam plus did you go to my.wyze.com , log into your account, then go to services and see if the camera is assigned to cam plus, you have to assign the camera/cameras to cam plus. You can try the easy way also, open the camera setting go to the bottom of the page and tap reset services if you have the cam assigned to Cam Plus.

Hi and thanks for the input. I’ve already tried all of @Antonius suggestions. The battery is at 62%. I removed and reinstalled the app, no apparent change. However, I did get the detection settings to stick by (doh) turning on the camera before changing them. That got me thinking–does the camera have to be turned on to detect motion? We are 99% sure it never did before, but maybe something has changed. In the meantime I have added “turn on camera” to the event recording automation. I can also try turning the camera on each day at sunset, but that seems like it would deplete the battery quickly. Any ideas?

I leave all of my WCO v1 cams turned on all the time. The camera sleeps until it detects motion anyway. If I don’t want it to record anything I just turn off Detects Motion in the event recording section of the app.

And yes the cam needs to be turned on to detect motion

Thanks to both of you! It is working again. We don’t recall having to turn on the cam, but that is easy to do with another automation.
